It seems like everyone post that i have read on this forum seems to be about all the problems people are having and how unhappy they are with acura (paint and noise problems). I am test driving one of these TL's on friday and i am almost nervous to because i feel like im going to encounter some of these problems just on the testdrive. The problem is, i really like the interior and exterior of this car, but i cant justify trading in a brand new 04 vehicle which has been fine for one that seems to be having all of these problems. HELP ME OUT!!!!

Keep in mind that you can have a hundred positive things to say about a car but one negative thing will offset the rest. Just go to the dealer with a clear head and then test drive. if you notice one of the things forum members have talked about, just keep that in mind but don't let it be the grey cloud over your head. Enjoy the ride...I'm waiting for mine.

 

I agree with mobile, go and test drive without looking for these defects people have been posting. I have a 19xxx build with the so called vibrating tires and dropping headliner. I have neither and have mine for 2 weeks now.
So go in there and drive it like you know nothing! Take these postings as maybe having it and something to look for.

 

As for the severity of the problems. It's pretty minor stuff compared to problems on other cars in this class.

I'm not reading about engine failures, stalling, transmission problems, brakes, alignment etc. so I'm pretty confident about the quality of the TL.

The only real hickup with the '04 TLs seem to be the tires. The rest is really minor stuff that you would probably also find in other cars.

There may be legitimate problems for some, but methinks that there is some BS up in this camp too.

For some, maybe it's "fun?", to keep jabbering about "rattles", shaky tires, droopy headliners, memory settings .... ad nauseam or maybe it's frustration I don't know..

I can only speak for myself. I have not seen these gremlins yet.. and if I do will will deal them.

The TL works.

 

Tons of ppl are saying how good 04TL is and showing the multiple ways of giving praise to 04TL, including those color clubs...

It's common nature of human beings to remember more problems issues than those good things.

This 04TL is still the great vehicle for most of ppl here.


For my own preference, I prefer checking problem-like threads to reading those admiring ones.

 

Finally got through the break in and I'm getting impressed. The car is a hoot to drive and I love wiping the smirks off the faces of the geeks in the 3-series Bimmers. Dime a dozen where I live. I'm saying bye-bye to most of the a-holes driving like they have race cars around here, except for the guy test driving a Lamborghini this morning.....I just kinda let him pass.....

There are plenty, plenty of people happy with the car...look at the sales figures for Acura, the TL sales are carrying Acura by itself.

Just like it is with the media, how many positive stories do you see. Every news station is one murder or kidnapping after another. With one human relation feel good at the very end while the credits start playing.

Does this mean, based on what I saw on TV, that if I go outside I will be shot. Ummm, no.

People do have problems, and will post for a resolution or advice. Another phenom which happens and for those that "repeat" their replies, some of these issues are beat to death, we all know that earlier build Acura TL's have some issues with tires and headliners/rattles. Even though, a large majority of March build and later cars are not seeing any of these problems...in my daily gander, I've seen maybe one or two March build TL's with problems and no April build with problems...but of course, that ONE PERSON that does, will read this, and post hey I have an April build and its falling apart, and poor you, you will read this, and confirm that TL is not a wise choice.

Go with the advice, test drive it...what if I told you right before your G35 test drive to watch the "bland" interior. You may have not thought twice about it, but now it will irk you to no end and you will be telling the dealer, great car, but the interior is bland.

 

My VIN is 29XXX and, thus far, I've experienced NONE of the common problems....the car is great!!! Naturally......one tends to keep a closer ear out when you're aware of other's problems...but so far......life is great!
