Question What climate control setting do you use?

I'm just wondering how often people have to adjust their climate control settings or if you just keep it an "auto" at a certain temperature and you're good to go.

I've tried keeping it on AUTO with a temp of 69-71 and have found I still need to monkey with it in order to stay comfortable. Often times I need to switch to only floor or turn the A/C off to keep cool air off me.

Do you folks need to keep making fine adjustments to stay comfortable??

I usually keep it at 72 auto when the windows are up and its hot out. In the winter, I shut the a/c off to conserve gas but turn it back on if the car fogs up.

Climate Control? Is that what Acura calls their system? IMO the Climate Control in the 3G TL sux, REAL BAD! Sometimes when you hit auto it recycles inside air and other times it brings in outside air. It does not even matter what my last setting was. If the car feels like recycling inside air then it does and if it feels like outside air then that's what it brings in.

I also live in AZ and when I get into my car it is hot, REAL HOT. For example, lets say when I get into my car I hit auto and set it at 67. it will start to blow hard but it wont blow at the highest setting. If I want it to blow at the highest setting I have to manually adjust it on the control. I'm sure I need to take it in but it just pisses me off and I have not had time lately to do so.

AFAIK, climate control blows at max (or near max) fan and recycles air when I first get in the car, to quickly lower the temperature inside.... After a few minutes, it will auto bring outside air and reduce the fan speed....
I think that's smart enough for a car

I have it on 74, but I dont hit Auto I hit the A/C button so it keeps it on recirc. I hate it when the car turns it to fresh air.

Yep, never change the settings...if it's really cold, I turn on the heated seats.

I vary between "Auto(@70-72 degrees)" and fresh-air (flow through or fan speeds 1 or 2) with the windows up depending on temp outside when on the freeway. Otherwise, windows/sunroof open or "Auto" if temp outside is warm. I'm in Southern California, and generally within 5 miles or so of the ocean.

Winter: 68, auto, air conditioner off
Summer: 73-78, full auto.

I usually try to stay within 5-10 degrees of the outside temperature, hoping to save some gas (similar to how one would set a thermostat in a house)

Most of the time (all seasons), I use the manual mode settings (A/C off) and set the temperature for whatever I find most comfortable at the time. The only time I ever use the Auto setting is in the summer when I want to use the A/C because with mine like this, it works very well. I NEVER use the auto setting in the cooler or cold months.

I find this car to do very nicely with interior comfort and low-to-no window fogging in the off seasons (key here is to use outside air settings - NOT recirculate, plus either manual defrost-and-floor or just manual defrost).

Auto setting runs the compressor. Most of the time, I don'd need, nor do I want this. Only on trips in the heat of the summer or when the wife and I are heading out for something in the warm weather.

Auto 68-70 is perfect. I love not having to touch the climate control every 5 minutes.

Auto-off AC-Off 24C

Fuel efficiency should be better w AC off. If it is cool outside and you hit auto you'll hear the AC compressor kick in so it must be using more energy that when set to AC off.

Advantages of leaving it on Auto are the clearing of the windscreen if it is misty.

Auto 72-74 always seems to work for me. If it's really cold, i'll jack it up to 78 or so to get the hot air flowing faster, then bring it down to 72-74 once the car is warmer.

What does the temperature setting do when you're not in AUTO?

Raises or lowers the temperature of the vent-delivered air.

With outside temperature from 58 to 68, A/C off, dual, driver at 64 with front vents and passenger at 66 with front and lower vents. One or two fan speed.

I'll switch to Auto when entering a hot car.

Auto always 67 - 75; I yell at my passengers if they want to take the auto off change the settings manually. I think it's pretty kewl that the car would change to recycle air when cooling a really hot car - I have always wondered if I still need to drop my rear windows a bit to help push out the warm air - I don't do it anymore - just don't think it's of my status to drop the rear windows a bit like the cheaper car owners do. I think I have an expensive enough car that should be able to cool itself pretty quickly which it does do. Now to buy a sunscreen for the dash to prevent dash fade

Raise or open the sunroof temporarily...vents hot air perfectly and you won't look like a Neon driving down the road.

I just open all the windows and sunroof as I walk towards the car on hot days, then close windows and sunroof after driving a minute or two to set the climate control to Auto. I hope my TL doesn't look too much like a Neon in those moments before closing windows...

I never change the setting in summer. If it's too hot I have all windows open. Winter is a different story though. But I don't think I'll be driving the TL in winter.

I usually have my A/C off but have the fans going.

I keep the temp between 70-75 depending on the weather. I have the fan speed at 2.

The only time I put the system into Auto is when its really hot out or if its raining so that I can get the humidity out of the car. This helps to keep my windows fog free.

OK, maybe it's because I'm coming from a Ford, but I got confused reading the manual.

Is there a setting that will let me run just the fan without activating the AC. I live in SoCal and most of the time I drop a couple or all of the windows to get most of the heat out, but after a couple minutes I raise the windows to keep dust and other smog crap out.

I was keeping the temp set to 75 and running what I though was just the fan, but air coming in seems to be so cool (like when the external temp is 84). Is the AC compressor running? The little orange light is not on.

The manual seemed to say to manually run the fan to set the temp to HI and then increase the fans. This was sending HOT HOT air into the cabin - air a lot hotter than the ambient 84.

How do I tell the system to just send in the 84 degree air from outside?

Colossus- pushing the "A/C" switch will turn off the A/C compressor if you are in Auto mode. Then the display will show "A/C Off," but the fan will continue to push air through. You can then adjust fan speed.
The orange light is the recirculation (i.e. no fresh air) function for quicker cooling or heating.
Putting "temp" to "Hi" will put HEATED air through the vents, so don't do that unless you want heated air, which is unlikely if weather is 80+ degrees outside!
Note that air initially coming from the vents will be warmer than the outside air if car was sitting in the sun. Also, A/C ducting is under hood, near engine.

For me auto mode sux. If I set it to 73 it should bring the cabin to 73, regardless of what it is outside. But instead when it's real hot I need to bring it down to 72/71 to get comfy and when it's cold I need to bring it up to 76. So much for it being "auto". The climate control in my RSX is waaay better - set it to 72 and it brings it to 72, no matter what. :angryfire

it usually sits at about 75....if im on a long trip ill turn it off (as a little bit of air still comes through the vents). unless its really stuffy in the car i dont like a lot of air blowing/huge difference in air temp.
