Hard to say. 6mt Type S offered so much value back in the day. I was looking up some newer cars and was surprised that some AMG models came without LSD as a standard feature. You gotta pay extra for that and MB isn't cheap. Likewise, as others have pointed out, the sports sedan market is dying. Everything today is either a crossover, SUV, or ecojunk. Closest today would probably be the Accord 2.0t sport. Or if you are willing to pay a little extra, get an Audi S4. Lexus IS350 is also fairly nice.

It's not the upfront cost of the S4 but more the long term costs and headaches. Every audi I have driven felt like I could break it in one drive somehow.

that's what I'm talkin bout!

it's like those cars can do what the TL does AND more, dufuq would one want to get another boring honda!?

the ATS-V and the Camaro are two VERY GOOD cars. just expensive...perhaps in a few years, that'll change..

the Porsche Macan is a great handling CUV thing with like 400hp and the possibility to tune it...some FANTASTIC cars out there!!!!

Having had the experience of having gone luxury and big power (among other things)...
I can tell you guys that you don't need more than the TL-S 6 Speed for what it is supposed to do, and that, it does well.

It's not the only car out there but it still holds up to checking off almost all check boxes in what anyone would want in a car...
especially at the current market depreciation cost of one. Yes you have at least 10 annoying things you'll have to address (BT unit, Dash, etc)
but you'll also have a half million mile solid motor (if you are good to it), relevant looks even 15 years later now, good gas mileage even by
today's standards, reasonably fun to drive considering you can have 2 car seats and your skinny suegra in the backseat, cheap
parts and pretty straight forward labor if you decide to bust your own knuckles on it.

The real bottom line here is that Automatic Transmission technology has advanced dramatically in recent years, and in many cases are so well tuned to shift at just the right time. Even shift paddles make it 'manual like' so you do it all yourself. This is why manuals are being phased out folks!

The loyal opposition here...

I disagree paddle shifters make things manual like; what they do from a pure technical perspective, is turn an automatic transmission into a semi-automatic transmission. Unless there are three pedals under the dash, then it ain't a manual in any way, shape, or form.

Having given a dual clutch transmission a shot...
I will say that it's as close to being a manual as you can get without having the clutch pedal.
Once you drive it like a manual...you can really enjoy how it performs...even blipping the throttle
on downshifts for you and all.

but it still doesn't give you the same feeling as pushing in a clutch pedal.

Me driving a MT has nothing to do with performance these days....I just like it. I drive like an old man 90% of the time and stay below 3000RPM on most shifts. I usually have the kids in the car and realize they pay attention to my habits and therefore I try to be "good".....my daughter flat out tells my wife that "daddy drives a lot faster than you do"...awesome.

Overall, I get why they are dying...doesn't mean I am happy about it.

@Jackass Funny you mention that...
I was thinking yesterday that even though the TL is much slower
than other cars I've had/have...there's a certain driver enjoyment...
rowing through the gears, exhaust...whatever...
I was thinking, I wonder what the absolute slowest worst performance
you can have that you finally feel like it's just not good enough. We're out here
using science and numbers to spark feeling...and it just doesn't work that way.

My son had a 1990 Miata with the anemic 1.6 liter mill coupled to a 5-Speed manual, no A/C, and pretty much, nothing else; damn that car was fun.

I would have to say none today because of new cars weight. If you were to go back it would be the Audi S4 B8. Solid car. If there was no TL-S 6spd I would be in a Audi S4

Volvo S60

Just seen one of these beauties and decided to look it up to see what it has to offer under the hood, as I too have been looking for something comparable to my 07 tl-s. Very impressed.

Yeah, I had a V60 and aside from not being exciting to drive, it was a great car.
