Still very happy with the 07 TLS 6mt, but wondering what car on sale today y'all think is the most like it?

All around best car I've ever owned

It is really hard to say. As manuals become more rare and naturally aspirated engines are phased out for smaller forced induction units, the manual transmission sport sedan market is beginning to disappear. I would say sticking to the Honda/Acura brand and the FWD platform, a new Accord Sport 2.0T 6spd. Or maybe trying to find any remaining F90 generation 3 Series with a stick; either a 330i or 340i respectively. Very good question though.

I'd say the 10G Accord 2.0T 6MT, especially in that Still Night Pearl color.

Otherwise, take it back to 2017 to an Accord V6 coupe 6MT!

Same car choices, but I'd never own a Honda or Acura in black or NHP, as a detailer, I absolutely despise dealing with those two. Terribly soft, swirls easily, can be sticky if you get any heat into it (meaning hard to wipe off polishes), if you don't ceramic coat it maintenance sucks.

I wouldnt kick a S550 Mustang GT out of bed.
or any of the Audi's....an RS3 would get my vote.
Perhaps an m340i or step it up the M models?

the C63 will always have my heart!
I've also been thinking about a FRS/86/BRZ. they would be cool.
or a miata.

miata is always the answer

Yeah, if I had to buy today I'd either get a used 340i 6MT or a new Accord Sport 2.0T.

Oh no. I meant the bright blue. It's colse to KBP or Apex Blue.

I'm about to start detailing and I'm hoping to mainly get interior work.

I have a black Optima right now so I'm familiar with that ugliness. Never again.

Your correct thats the right name for the color, have it on my 16 Touring Coupe it is crazy amazing color like KBP especially in the sun

OP - I dont think theres apples to apples comparison to cars today to 12 yo car but I would say the Stinger is interesting and while I dont like its looks or lack of stick theres a lot bang for buck with that car

Speak for yourself, I could care less how freakin' fast the car is if it ain't fun to drive. If there aren't three pedals under the dash, the car ain't gonna be in my garage.

There is only one reason I would give up my third pedal.....remote start. Otherwise, I also prefer a third pedal in my car. I get bored driving an auto. That is for sure one of the reasons I have not replaced my TL still....difficult to find equivalent options....as well as I am too cheap to buy a new car.

Being able to put two kids into a car that is already at the proper temperature is priceless. No fights with my toddler that her seat is too hot or too cold....while I stand outside arguing either freezing my butt off or sweating through my shirts. So much easier to load them into my wife's car than mine...although my daughter does prefer road trips in mine since the TL has rear vents.

Automatics are so tragically boring. Been driving stick for over 15 years and have also driven hundreds of different cars. I almost fall asleep driving autos.

Easy fix is not to use it.

It's not like any cars that come in manual offer it anyway.

I believe that is untrue, I don't remember which brand and model, but it was pointed out to me a couple of years ago there are in fact, manual equipped cars with auto start. If I recall, the system confirms the parking brake is engaged and the transmission is in neutral before remote start is enabled.

Remote start for a manual does exist.....but.....after all the years of driving a MT vehicle, I would never in my right mind leave my car parked on an incline with just the parking brake sitting in neutral. My car is always parked in gear, parking brake on, and wheels turned. My driveway is steep and I have nightmares that I find my car sitting in my neighbors living room.

I meant most cars that come in manual are not offered in a high enough trim to offer remote start with a manual.

I totally get it. Some brands can and will offer them together, but not many, unfortunately...

For any steep driveway, leaving the car in gear really doesn't offer much protection. Check it out for yourself, put your car at the top of your driveway, shut it off, put it in gear (either first or reverse), and see how well the car will roll down the hill.

The closest thing now is something like S4 @rockstar143 is driving. AWD, fast, manual.

More modern? Probably any modern equivalent sized S Audi - S5, S4. BMW and Merc models are a little bit too different.

Lol @ people saying RWD/AWD turbocharged sport sedans are the closest thing today to a FWD Acura TL. I've driven a S4, C63, 340i, etc. and they are nothing like the 3G TL I used to own.

The closest thing in my opinion is a TLX (minus the manual transmission). Shit it still uses essentially the same engine (not something to be proud of considering the first iteration of the J series came out in the 90's)

The J series is iconic and still very relevant. I think it can go a long ways still.

Mine is DSG though!
Having said that, there is a certain amount of driving input I personally miss...and that's with an S2000 and Jeep Wrangler to go shift with.
Just not as rewarding.
With that said...the DSG is fast as fuck and launches cool and shifts in less time than my high school refractory periods between dolphin floggings. Shit is engaging and quick.
It has made me a believer. People say does it have a Manuel Tranny? I'm like, nope...it has TWO Manual Trannies!
In all seriousness though, if you're die hard manual shift old school guy, nothing else will cut it. I would still prefer that.

You know, after my last 3G I had the CTS-V and a tuned turbo Volvo (the eco one, albeit) and now a stage 2 S4...
A close friend recently bought a cheap TL-S and I took it around the block and was shocked at how relevant the damn thing
still was. How effortless shifting was...it all came back to me...and even the power...more than enough usable power.

I was thinking yesterday...in your head...6 seconds to 60 to 3 seconds to 60 is a crazy jump...but at the horsepower and performance
we are being given these days we are splitting hairs. I don't care about being fast on paper...fast is relative and you get used to it and
it doesn't feel fast anymore. Fun to drive is what I use to measure. The Wrangler is a tank and gets shit gas mileage but the half assed welded
Magnaflow muffler on it and the gurgles and pops and the slightly rough shifting tranny and torque make it a fuckin blast to drive.

Truth be told, by the time I sold the Caddy...it didn't feel fast to me anymore.

I have been shopping around another car and the only one that I like to compare is the Audi S4. Basically, I will be giving my oldest son the Acura Type -S.......well....he really loves it. Originally we bought as a kid car for them to learn to drive on . He absolutely loves it, none of the others like it,,,, he even offered to pay for it. Good kid,,,he's away, at University, taking physics and engineering and the car is waiting for him. My other car is a 2015 Audi RS5,,, but sometimes need to pack the other kids off to school and use the Acura. Great car that still a treat to drive.

I was throwing out replacement cars...
which would be BETTER than a 6mt TL.

I would rock a charger/challenger
enough space for the kiddos and 6mt if you choose the challenger...

hell, even the 5.0 Coyote S550 Mustang GT fits the bill...kiddos can sit in the back.
with 6MT and 350-400hp to boot

or one can defect to Audi and get the S4 with 6MT.
the RS3 is the tits too!!

LOL, I'm more than twice your age and a 6MT TL is pretty spot on perfect for a daily driver for me.

I moved from a 6MT Type S to a 17 C43 AMG. Love the C43, the power is and sound is amazing. So far with about 60K on it, it has been reliable. Went from KBP Type S to Brilliant Blue C43. Also got it tuned so easy 1500-2000 bucks and you have an extra 70 hp and almost 90 lb ft torque.

So whats your winter beater? I presume this performs less than ideal in the weather you get in the frozen north.
