What % is my tint?

I know this is a silly question but is there a way to see the % of tint I have? Just curious since I bought the car used and the previous owners did it.

sorry for crappy iphone pix. I'll do some later. still at work

the angles are weird, but i'd say 20

do you notice it's the same all the way around? or is it different on the back as apposed to the sides.

my guess is 20 on the back and 35 on the sides because the sides seem a little lighter

That's what I would have guessed. Otherwise, take it to tint shop?
Or look up the laws for the state where the previous owner originally owned it - I'm guessing that it would be as dark as the law allows.

Your new car looks great, BTW!!

it's only been like 3 days since it's been in california. I just want to know if this is legal so I know what to say to any cops.

judging from the first picture, it's 35% just like what I have. When it was just finished the guy who tinted said it looks like 20% because of the black interior.

Ah, yes be careful of the "cumulative tint effect." In Maryland, the legal tint limit is 35%. I didn't know about the existing tint on the windows, and had 35% installed. I actually had no problems until FOUR years later, when a County officer pulled me over and told me my tint was too dark. I told him the tint was 35% and he didn't agree and told me I have to get the car inspected by the state. I called my tint shop and told them what happened, and they told me existing tint on the windows could have made the total tint job darker. So not knowing the true percentage of my tint, I just had it uninstalled.

BTW - 7% tint would mean only 7% of the ambient light is passing through the windows, which is extremely dark and close to Limo tint of 5%.
