Weak paint on the 04?

i know this has been discussed before about the flaking of the bumpers. but has anyone actually got paint chips on the metal? i got like 5 paint chips and theyre not even on the front bumper or hood, theres one on my drivers rear door and i have no idea how it got there.
i gotta get touchup paint but thats one of the reasons i hate washing my car because i find more everytime.

ive had my 99 ML320 for 5 years and there were only a few, its just strange how the chip get on the side of the door(i guess someone could have kicked up rocks from their cars).

Dont feel bad b-cuz I have one right above the body line crease in the rear. Have no idea how ? ? ? Its sucks because thats one of the sexiest parts of the car (IMHO) . I also have NBP and it really sticks out ! I think its due to the fact of the whole . . . . Roses in the fridge . . . Violets on the rack. . . Everyone wishes their TL was BLACK .

Far more than a bottle of touch-up paint, that's for sure! You'll probably spend $400 on a door alone if it's serious enough to require repainting the entire area.

Don't most of new cars now in US markets have such kind of thin paint? I'm not sure if Acura's the worst one...

yeah ever since they took the lead out of it. damn safety laws. even still the paint is pretty weak in my opinion. i've seen other 04 bmw's and the paint seems to hold up better.

I dont think they would charge too much. Its the size ( maybe a little larger ) of a ball point on a pen. Plus I'd rather pay the $ and have it look right than use touch up paint and have an eye sore everytime I see it . I guess I'm anal about that type of stuff ( as I should be ) !

If it's the size of a ball point on a pen, touching it up will be the best way to go about fixing this. I had a chip on the rear right fenderwell (probably from some person opening their door into me) and I painted it with several layers of touch-up paint, patiently applying each layer one-by-one. It looks great - you can't even tell it's there when you're looking at it (you can feel it though) and I didn't even need clearcoat. The affected area is also larger than a ballpoint!

OK maybe I'll try the touch up paint first and if I'm not pleased then I'll go to the body shop. Its just that I've had bad exp. with touch up paint . But hell I might as well give it a try . . If it worked for you then I'll try to do the same.

Every car I've ever owned (Many, many cars from the 70's till now) has had paint chips to the metal. That's just something that a rock tends to cause. Ever since the start of the Internet, people have been claiming online that older cars never chipped and new paint is poor. Personally, I haven't noticed much difference.

TRUCKS!!!!! TRUCKS!!!!!! TRUCKS!!!!!! Has anyone noticed how many freaking trucks are one the roads lately??? These guys are insane in the way they drive......I can't even count the times I've been behind a truck trying to pass another truck up a hill......one going 55MPH, and the other going 56MPH up a hill.....with a line of cars behind trying to pass!! This should be illegal.....in Europe, Trucks are not allowed in the passing lane...and I doubt anyone in congress has the balls to pass legislation banning trucks from the passing lane. Also....these guys get paid by the mile....and thats a recipe for unsafe operation....their paycheck depends on them driving like idiots.....does anyone in our government have the balls to stand up to the truck lobby and stop this insanity??
Trucks are the cause of every single paint chip I've got on my car. Yes the paint is not as strong due to EPA regulations regarding lead...but it's the trucks kicking up stones that do the damage.
