We finally made R&T
This was touched on in previous threads about R&T's website, but Road & Track (my favorite magazine) finally did a full comparison test on the TL-S, Infiniti G35 (4-door) and the Lexus IS350.
By the numbers, we:
accelerated to 60 in 5.7 seconds (3rd place),
the quarter at 14.3 & 99.9 mph (3rd),
braked from 60 in 117 feet (1st),
went through the slalom at 66.0 mph (2nd), and,
topped out at 147 mph @ 5150 RPM with the e-limiter (2nd).
Overall, we came in 2nd place with the Lexus in 1st.
None of the editors chose the TL-S for their own were they to have a choice, but all 3 enjoyed the interior fit & finish, engine, gearbox (possibly "the best in the entire segment"), seats, ride quality, and luggage space.
Comments about the front-wheel drive were made, as expected, but this is a chief reason why I personally bought the car: High-performance, rear drivers in the snow is a bad combo.
There wasn't a bad car in the group and most of the cars were closely grouped in each of the tests.
So I voted with my wallet and bought my 07 TL-S. It has everything I wanted plus Consumer's Reports best-in-category rating.
I think I made an excellent choice. Would others agree?

I couldn't agree more. I would consider one of the other two cars in a non-snow area of the country, but not in Chicago. One would be forced to buy 4 snow tires with the G35 or IS350. We see tons of IS250 AWD's around here, but very seldom see an IS350 (likely just for that reason). My TL does great in snowy and rainy weather.
One thing you forgot to mention...
Lateral acceleration - TL-S (1st place)...by a pretty wide margin.
TL-S - 0.91g
G35 Sport - 0.88g
IS350 - 0.84g
That is pretty nice to see, especially since it is "just a front wheel drive car".
