WDP Paint Match

I was rear-ended in the WDP TL. They are having difficulty with a paint match on the bumper. Anybody heard of similar problems.

Not at all. There should be a paint code found on the sticker inside your front door frame. I had my mud flaps painted DWP by a shop that used that code and they matched the body perfectly.

Are you sure they're not trying to get over with a cheaper paint that wouldn't give that pearl effect?

The paint code should work fine for you. There's an issue with the front and rear bumpers on DWP 2nd gen cars (certainly on my '02). The bumper manufacturing was outsourced and doesn't quite match the paint code. When I picked my car up from the dealership I complained about the color match on those pieces and was told that it wasn't covered under warranty.

I thought about having it repainted on my own $, but didn't think it was worth it. I hope Acura has cleaned up it's subcontracting act since them!

A friend of mine in autobody told me that the WDP is a three coat/color process, can be matched, but you have to be good at it.

My old 98 prelude was WDP. Never got the color matched. Even honda front lip and side skirts didn't even match. I had the rear and front repainted from accidents and she was never the same...
I will never get WDP again even though it's a great color.

Also the shop did mention it was a 3 step paint process.

My 2k TL is WDP. I've had to have 2 bumpers replaced because of rear-enders (fortunately no metal damage). The first bumper they had to paint 3 TIMES before I would accept it. The 2nd time they got it right the 1st time. They told me the difference was in their paint supplier. (Sorry, I don't know who they were). I guess it does make a difference but the match factor wouldn't make a difference to me - I love the color!

Were your mud flaps the black plastic/rubber kind? I was told that they cannot be painted to match the body colour. I have SSM 04 and want to paint the mud guards to match the body. Let me know?

I have had 2 WDP cars (Millenia and Solara) that required some body and paint work. Both matched PERFECTLY first time. I believe that it is up to the skill of the paint shop. As long as I stay in LA, I know where to go for perfect work!

WDP bumpers never match even when the car is new it looks yellowish. Something to do with the paint for the bumpers.
