Warrenty

Good evening.

i recently purchased a 2004 tl with 39k miles and it currently has 43k. I believe the factory warranty is 4 years or 50k miles. Can i go into any dealership to have it serviced? Anyone have any idea what are the costs? Is there an initial diagnostic fee?

In 04 the warranty was 5/50, so you have 7K miles to play with and/or whatever time is remaining between the in service date of your car and 5 years. Additionally (and I haven't followed up on this) there was a class action law suit brought against America Honda Motors regarding odometer calculation variance. Under the terms of the agreement, AHM will be extend mileage by 5%. This is all covered under TSB 06-050 or www.odosettlementinfo.com or 888-888-3082. As you are not the original owner, there is no formal notification to you, but your friends here at AZ will take care of you.
In terms of your other questions - you should be able to have it serviced at any Acura and in some cases Honda dealers. There are some dealers that prefer to service the cars they have sold, however as you are second buyer, it should be an issue. Costs ?? If is is covered under warranty, your cost should be ZERO. Diagnostics fees?? What are you trying to diagnose? This will depend on the dealer and what you are trying to do, but would suspect you are probably looking at a minimum of an hour of labor and/or some incremental diagnostics tools/machine time. With that being said, if a problem is found - again it should be covered under warranty and cost would be zero.

The only reason i mentioned a initial diag fee was because my friend was charged one but i dont believe his car was covered under factory warrenty being that his car had alot more mileage and was an older model.

I think the warranty was just '4' years or 50,000 miles

so most likely out of warranty

Well honestly there is nothing wrong with the car , but since the warranty is going to expire soon i thought it would be a good idea to just take it for a checkup but i wasnt sure if i am going to be charged for that.

Although i did create another thread i believe i did something to my remote/security system last night. and that is really what i want them to fix or reset.

if there is nothing wrong with the car, then they wont take it in under warranty just to give it a check up....find something wrong with the car if there is anything and take it in....

any acura dealer will honor warranty work....

normal wear items like brakes, tires, wiper blades, fluids, spark plugs, air filters are not covered under warranty....
