Question Warranty coverage for stealership-installed tint?

Hey guys, I looked around and couldn't find anything addressing stealership-installed tint. I had the stealership install my tint before I took delivery of the car (and paid quite a lot for it, too). The reason I just went ahead and had the stealership do the tint was because I figured if anything started going wrong (peeling, bubbles, etc) then I could take it to the stealership and complain there, instead of worrying about some tint shop going out of business before there were any problems.

Well I've had the car for 5 months, 6200 miles, and all 4 windows have a LOT of very deep scratches in the tint. I guess they didn't get the moleskin memo. My question is: if I bitch to the stealership, will they replace the tint? Is the tint covered under some kind of warranty (yes I have the extended warranty)? Or am I screwed?

Oh, you're screwed.

Of course you might want to take it to the dealer and ask them first before working yourself into such a fit and ranting here...

or just take my word for it, you're screwed, theres no hope.

Dealer installed Acura accessories are covered under the new car warranty, but since the tint is not an Acura accessory it will be up to the dealer to cover it, so what they are saying here is that it is impossible to tell you what an individual dealer will tell you, so you should go to the dealer and get their decision.

Basically, your only hope is that the tinter they used warranties his/her work. If this is the case (as most tinters do), the dealership will take your car back to the tinter and have it redone. If this happens, think of the extra money you paid to have the dealership tint it as money you paid for them to act as a middleman between you and the tinter (similar to what you were eluding to earlier). Otherwise (or if the dealership claims you need to pay more money), just take the car to a tinter yourself, ensuring you know who is doing the work, they use moleskin, and you get a warranty against scratching.
