VTECH and 6MT question

When does VTECH kick in on the 6spd? Does it start in 3rd or 4th gear?

VTEC not VTECH. I love ricers who put "VTECH" stickers on their cars.

I think my VTECH isn't working. I don't notice anything around 4700 RPM's. I definitley noticed VTECH in my CLS around 5600 RPM's. Does any notice VTECH kicking in around 4700 RPM's in either Auto or 6MT?

Try to drive Prelude or S2000... you will feel sensational kick-in...

04TL is must quieter when you reach 4700 vtec point, it's normal...

its very subtle, but the torque is unbelievable.

-edit- meaning the torque is strong across the entire RPM range.

Seriously, VTEC doesn't really kick-in like a turbo does. All it does is allow the engine to reach high RPM and breathe properly at high RPM so the power curve continues to grow. It is not so much of a boost as simply the continuation of the power band.

600 miles on the 04 6mt SSM. Does the engine need to be broken in more? But I'm very familar with VTECH being engaged when I had my CL Type-S. I acutally noticed it when it kicked in beacuse my AEM intake was louder after VTECH kicked in. So I'm wondering if any of you guys noticed it. I mean, the OEM intake gets louder, and an increase of speed.

I know its not a replacment to a turbo, or I'm not referencing it like a turbo. I just wanted to know if its noticeable since I don't notice it from my previous experiences with VTECH kicking in my 04.

Agreed. My 97 Prelude roared when the VTEC kicked in, and the "boost" was definitely noticeable. I loved it.

I was specifically mentioning stupid ricers who not only have VTEC engines but put VTECH badges on their car. Maybe they are sporting a hot new phone.
