Not at all, just make usre you give the motor 2 minutes to warm up(build oil pressure) before you get on it.

If it was going to hurt the car to rev it that high the redline would be 4700. Let er rip, do your regular maintinace take good care of it and it will be fine. Cars are expendable anyway, its not something you keep forever if you dont enjoy driving it then go buy a geo. I never understood why people worry about miles on a car either. HELLO ITS A CAR! that is what its for. what is the point in buying a car if you are not going to drive it and if you are worried about miles for resale, a car purchase is the worst investment you could possibly make. You would have better luck with Enron. Drive the damn car, take care of it and then when its time is up get a new one.

If you weren't an Iggles fan, I'd agree 100% with you.

As long as you don't run it up to redline everytime and change the oil earlier then you would under normal driving, there is no premature wear. Its when the oil is broke down and then you start running it hard that you have problems. The engine was desinged to work under those conditions, why would it shorten the life of the motor? That makes no sense at all.

Its all about the care that does a car in. If you don't maintain the fluids then yes it will break earlier. Running it to redline will start to takes its toll on the oil, but that is why you check it and change it when it needs it.

Color me stupid. Too much time on the Redskin's board today - I have the NFC East on my brain.

That being the case though, I agree 100%.
