VSA indicator(s) auto appear

As I was driving along today i hear a single "click" noise and all of the sudden the yellow "VSA " light and the "!" indicator both appear.. the VSA button is no longer responsive and both VSA indicator lights remain... lame...

anyone else experience this nonsense?

Maybe I'm wrong here...

Sorry to hear this happens. VSA indicator on the instrument panel isn't supposed to display except the moment you start the engine. Doesn't the owner manual indicate this situation? Check with the dealer!?

ninj, you beat me to the punch posting the same exact thing. This is the same exact thing that happened to me today in the snowy ice weather in Philadelphia. The VSA blinked for about 30 seconds and then was non functional and VSA lit up under my speedometer

when my vsa light came on in my tsx - it was because the radiator cap was left off by the dealer..... i assume that this is not the case for your TL's.....

just go to the dealer, they can probably figure it out quickly. good luck

same

It has just happen to me a few day ago. Don't know what is the problem but it's a pain to have to deal with this. Looks like Acura do have problems just like all the other auto makers. Especially when they are builded in the US.
Have anyone know what is the cause?

Hey! This happened to me tonight also. I'm not sure what the problem is but I just shut the car off and restarted it and everything was normal. Hope it doesn't become an issue.

Now that would be interesting...... Was it due to the coolant spilling onto the VSA electronics/wiring??? Other than that I would have raised the BS flag on that dealership...

Maybe in the TSX VSA stands for the radiator "Volume Situation Alert".....

no idea why it went on - the check engine light eventually went on also though (took some time).

BS flag is an understatement - dealer bough back car due to stupidity (and fucking up my TSX and leaving me stranded in Gary Indiana for 8 hours). bad luck with cars is what i have. oh well.

but with this situation - the cars still move so its not what happened to me.... i wonder why all of a sudden multiple cars did that yesterday? Y2K type bug in our VSA systems? lol.

reboot your car

I hit an icy patch and VSA kicked in. But when i pulled up to a stop light it suddenly occured to me that the VSA shouldn't still be lit up. I tried hittin the button, but i got nothing. SO i did what any other IT person would do and promptly rebooted my car at the red light. Fixed the problem.... Maybe its running windows?

I started the other thread, and it did reset itself after I turned it off and let sit. I flushed it with water and have not had the prob reoccur ... Major difference though, I only had the ! light, the VSA light by the speedo did not come on.

ludachrisvt is right .. if both lights come on the manual says to service immediately.

If both lights come on, you should take it to the dealer..unless you know what caused the problem. I was cleaning out the EGR valve and forgot to connect on of the wire harness and the light came on, i reconnected it and it was fine again

A couple of weeks ago both my VSA and ABS lights came on - it was on a cold morning after driving in a rainy evening. It didn't go away when it warmed up, so I made an appointment to have it looked at. A couple of days later, the lights went off but I still went to the dealership.

A residual code for the left rear speed sensor was in the ABS/VSA computer, so my dealer replaced it.

VSA Problems

Last November/December, one year after purchase, I had a problem with both VSA and the ! in triangle symbol coming on intermitantly. After two service visits, that problem was initially fixed by replacing the brake lockout switch (this problem was accompanied by occasional difficulty shifting out of park on startup).

A few weeks ago, I had both VSA warning lights AND the ABS warning light come on while driving in a freezing rain storm on the PA Turnpike. The problem occurred daily while waiting for a service appointment.

The fault code indicated two faulty wheel sensors, but replacement failed to cure the problem. After a week and a half at the dealer & consultation with the 'factory', the problem was finally traced to a faulty ABS computer control module (Piazza Acura of Ardmore put me in an 05 TL with 16 miles on it, thank you).

I've had the car back for two weeks/one snow storm, and no return of the problem.

Same issue three times!

Ok, I just bought a 2005 TL with 30K on it, the VSA Light came on the 2nd day I had it, so i brought it back to the dealer and they replaced the "Yaw Sensor", which didnt do shit.

So... 20 miles later, the light comes on again! I take it back and they replace the "control module"....which helped for 1 week, then it happened again...but not just popping on, it came on after a grinding noise... so its in the shop for a third time.... what do i do, return the car because its a lemon, how does it work... can anyone tell me if they have had the same problem.

Thanks everyone

I'm having a same problem with mine (2004). I get both VSA lights almost everyday, I have to turn the car off and start it again in order them to go away. I'm going to take it in.

Mine was on briefly but it turned itself off after I restarted the car and drove for a bit. You might try disconnecting the battery

OR you could take it to a dealer/service station. Those lights don't come on just for your entertainment. And the car doesn't go into a 3000 rpm "safe mode" just because it's being bitchy today.

scturbor needs to have his codes checked and lukegriz needs to have his head checked.

Luckily they had a loaner available today and I took it in to get it checked out and hopefully it'll be under warranty (42k miles). While its in I told them to do the service recall for the fuel pump relay, numerous rattles, and the leather is fading. Hopefully they'll nail all of the issues. They'll definately have their hands full!

Actually I've seen several vehicles pop a light on a fluke and often times disconnecting the battery will answer the question of whether or not it was a fluke. If the light re-appears then you go get it checked out...if it doesn't, you're good to go. The VSA light may not behave that way, but I'd much rather fix the issue in my driveway in 5 minutes than take it to a dealer for a day.

What was the fix for you guys having the VSA and triangle! lights coming on? My triangle comes on and stays on even after disconnecting the battery for a while. My VSA light comes on after about 30 seconds to a minute of driving.

I will say that my rear tires are majorly worn and I am getting new ones all the way around soon.

VSA Light Fix

When this happened most recently (4th time), the dealer (again) replaced the reverse lock-out switch in my '04. He claimed that since the last time I had it replaced, the switch has been redesigned to fix the problem causing the VSA system to malfunction.

That was a few months ago & its been fine since.

I have all three lights remaining lit.

VSA, ABS and Brake Light. Parking Brake is released, yet light remains lit.

According the the manual, VSA is not working and EBD is not active. Cannot understand why the sensors are screwed up since the car has been in the garage the past two weeks.

The VSA fuse was already replaced once in the past.

^ check your brake fluid, it might be low. But for all the posters in this thread with issues, make sure your brake lights work, on my TL with the VSA and ! light went on, the brake lights didn't work, and the problem was a faulty brake switch.

Ok got my car back from the dealer AGAIN! Same culprit, TDC sensor failed. Took it to a different dealer this time and they said the tech mentioned that the sensor looks more beaten up than it should be, although they couldn't figure out why that was the case. I still can't believe this is the 3RD time this sensor failed!

Problem fixed, Modulator Assembly replaced. Looked the price of the part up and this is not cheap - around $700 dealer cost

I currently have VSA, !, and TPMS (related to new wheels/tires). TPMS has been on for since I got the wheels installed, but the VSA/! came on yesterday and won't reset (pulled fuse/battery).

Thing that worries me is I put 19" wheels on with 35 series tires and I really think the dealer will relate all problems to that. They have been very good to me so far, but it's in their right to make the claim and will be the cheaper way out for them.

I'm going to put the old wheels/tires on this weekend and see what happens. Then I'll take it in.

Alright i'm wondering if ANYONE has had this problem. As posted earlier above (back in 2008) my car is doing the same thing again ("!" lights up along with the vsa and check engine light and the car goes into limp mode. Since this has happened 3 earlier times and each time it was the TDC sensor at fault this will be the 4th time it failed and its at 88k miles (2005 model). I'm wondering why this keeps failing this sensor shouldn't normally fail and especially this many times. Any insights??

stock wheels and tires?

you can re-read my above posts. Same lights when I had the problem but no 'limp' mode. The tech that worked on my car said it was the VSA (can't remember for sure if it was VSA) system not getting enough voltage for a reliable signal monitor. He lubed it with some di-electric grease. Problem showed up once more briefly but haven't seen it since.

I remember tracking some threads at the time that said it might be the Wheel Speed Sensors. The tech said it definitely wasn't this.

Stock wheels and basically stock tires. The prior 3 visits all showed them replacing the tdc sensor each time. It just doesn't make sense that it keeps breaking.

I had the same problem, VSA and <!> light on the dash. this was also accompanied by my brakes locking up every time i touched the brakes. I had it towed to the dealer, they wanted to charge me $1600 for the VSA Modulator. I just turned off traction control and it hasn't braked on it's own since. If it does, I'll probably have to pull the VSA and ABS fuses. I know fuses 17 and 18 under the hood control the vsa, does anyone know what the in cabin fuses are for ABS?
