Voice command

Hello All,
I needed some help. I was test driving a 2004 TL yesterday. Used with 18k miles. The dealer was not an Acura dealership, so they didn't know much about the car. When I sat in the car, there was a button on the steering wheel that looked like voice activation. So I wanted to test it, and said stuff like "A/C on" and "radio off", but nothing worked. It kept saying "phone not found". It didn't have navi, but I assumed that even the non-navi has voice activation.

Does the non-navi have bluetooth?

Does voice activition come only with navi?

If you got the response "phone not found" then you pressed the wrong button. You pushed the bluetooth button. The nav voice command button is under that one. You will seriously need to just read the nav instruction booklet if you get the car. There is so much in that system. But check it out again, and look for the other button that you were missing. Like I said, it is under the bluetooth button that you were pressing. Hope this helps. Joey

You pressed the phone buttons. The voice command buttons are behind the phone buttons. Only the navigation-equipped cars have voice commands. All cars - navi / non-navi - come with Bluetooth and the phone buttons. You were driving non-navi so no voice commands.

The trick with the voice command button is that it is underneath the bluetooth handsfree button that you pushed. To depress it, you have to pull it towards you rather than pushi t down.

However, I'm not sure you get the voice activation without the navi, but you do get bluetooth.

Swing by an Acura dealership and let them demo the car for you. They should be able to show you how everything works.
