VLED switchbacks V1 VS V2

I live in the bay area, peninsula area of CA. Are they making it a big deal on the legality of these bulbs. I heard that the V1 are illegal here and prefer to get the V2 is this true?

Not sure of the legality, but V1's definitely catch the attention of police more than V2's.

I have V1's. OP, make sure you get resistors, too.

Here is the California Vehicle Code: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/tocd12c2a6.htm
In reading through, I'm not completely sure whether they are legal or not. One section says amber only, but I found at least 2 other sections that say white or amber.
Here is another good site for state vehicle codes: http://public.findlaw.com/traffic-ti...tion-laws.html
