vented hood?

vented hood?
Not sure what forum this should go in so if this isn't the one, mods, feel free to move it.
I've done a search and can't seem to find a vented hood for the tl. We need one of these; I open my hood after driving sometimes and it is hot as hell in there! I'm thinking something along these lines:
That is the ma shaw cf vented hood for the bmw e36. I'm thinking a hood like this could help cool off the engine and look really mean doing it! Thoughts?

i highly doubt his car is generating the kind of heat to even need a vented hood. i feel like its a little over kill unless your pushing some serious hp. he should take his car in if it feels like its overheating.

Those hoods are so ghetto. Please don't do that to your TL.
I'm not pointing fingers at anyone in this thread, but 3G TLs are becoming like the IS300s did when they got cheap enough where pretty much anyone could pick one up. Now IS300s are turning into ricer cars and TLs are heading down that path too

The car isn't overheating, I just noticed that when I pop the hood right after driving it is really hot under there...hotter than cars that I've owned in the past. As far as the vented look goes, if it is done tastefully and subtly the tl could pull it off. The vents MA shaw cf hood for the e36 are barely noticeable from a distance. Vents that mimic the MA shaw style vents would look great and be functional, IMO.

I think the hoods on both TLs shown here are waaaay to aggressive for a daily driven car. Something more like this would be better, IMO:
Painted to match the car, from a distance, the vents would be almost unnoticeable and to the untrained eye they would be invisible. And I don't think anyone can argue that cooler under hood is not better.

Just to add to this thread, this guy Xiomaro made one a while back as well.

I like his design but he should have put a grill insert in the opening instead of a cutout.

i think somwthing simple like the 2010 bently hood would look nice on a 3g tl

on both sides a small cut out...maybe someone can do it

I'm going to revive this thread because I firmly believe that the 3g tl needs a CF vented hood...
If the hood on this 335 was painted body color 99% of ppl wouldn't even notice the vents...form and function! I'm not a fan of the center cowl vent just above the kidney grills but the vents on the sides look great and would translate well onto the tl for sure. And regardless of what anyone says less under hood heat is better and a vented hood would help to reduce under hood heat.

One on the right for me
I don't think modifying the hood to keep under hood temps lower is a bad thing. I'm with you that most of the vent pictures look horrible, but having cooler air flowing isn't only for highly modified cars. Hondata has suggested for quite some time that the hood modification would be highly beneficial

Read before you speak I never said it "=" anything. I said "trying". A vented hood belongs on a car that would be beneficial to it. Would you buy a Rolls Royce and put a friggin vented hood on it just to cool it down, no I don't think so. Also since I did mention hp are you actually pushing your TL to the limt when you drive to work or school or the damn supermarket??? I mean really I gotta push the 200+ hp my TL-S has just to get to the store and I need the hood to keep it cool for the 10 blocks I'm gonna drive otherwise it'll get too hot. Don't get me wrong if someone is building a tl for full purpose race then by all means do whatever you need to get the edge. But if you're just putting a vented hood on just for shits and giggles, then you'll think you're the shit while everyone giggles at you!! While you're at it go and put on the rear bumper cutout crap cause you'll need to get more downforce to go faster to get to the store before the car gets hot.
