Vanity Mirrors

I just noticed that the lights for the vanity mirrors are in the roof and come on when the flap to the mirror is opened. When this flap is open it blocks the light. Seems like a poor design. I have never noticed this before because I am usually driving the car, but was riding with my wife yesterday. This is really no problem for me because I don't want to look at myself anymore that I have to, but just thought I would add a nitpick to the site.

I spoke to my salesman about this and he reported that this was done intentionally to give you a softer indirect light to reduce glare. Its actually one of the things he pointed out. Just what I was told, anyone told the same thing?

My gf loves this design. She says it's better than the old design where the lights were next to the mirror.

Like the design of the car, Acura is taking cues from BMW where they too have lights situated in the headliner instead of the mirrors. My wife likes it this way better so I'm fine with it, I never use them.
