Vanity Light

Can anyone point me to a DIY for replacing the lights in the visor that illuminate above the little mirrors? I want to replace with LED as the stock illumination is a joke (plus my wife complained).
Looks like the cover may just pop out but what LED bulb should I get? Does the led just snap right in?

use a piece of tape..like the clear kind or something thinner. just wrap a piece around the bulb and leave enough to form a handle...then pull. not sure if this method is needed for this specific bulb but it is for some. its been a while since i changed mine. there are a few threads out there that show how to get to every light in the TL...maybe even in the garage.

The 3g garage is your friend. I found this thread there:

the lens is a bitch to remove. i used a flathead screwdriver and just pushed it in and wiggled it left and right. the 3G garage shows you how to do it, but it takes a bit more effort than it looked.

once you pry out the lens, the bulb is in the connector that is part of the lens housing, identical to the trunk light.

i suggest practicing removing the trunk light first. once you figure out how to remove that, you can apply it to removing the vanity light.

hope this helps

The Vanity Lenses are PITMFA. Thats one engineer that should roast in hell for all eternity, replacing burned out 3G Vanity Mirror Bulbs.

The "trick" is get that small screwdriver between the Lens and the Metal Bracket and push the Lens clip in, then pull down. The clip is on the side closest to the center of the car.

brand noob

I've been searching through this thread for help with the vanity lights. It's comforting to know it wasn't just me who disliked these things. I'll keep trying til I bust something up.
