Valet key-chip?

Hi all, I'm going scuba diving locally soon and need to take my acura. Does anyone know if there is a chip inside the valet key? Ideally I would like to take the key down ~60 ft with me without some sort of a dry box...thanks!

There's an immobilizer inside the valet-key.

It's COMPLETELY sealed off by plastic, though.
No way water can get inside.

Thanks! If it were damaged-then I couldn't get the door opened, correct?

incorrect. The key part is waterproof since its a piece of metal. You can open the door, glove box, disarm the alarm, and open the trunk no problem. The chip inside is only to allow you to start the car

No-- you can open the door lock with the key, as the lock is operated by the cut blade.
I carry a metal key without immobilizer in my wallet JIC I lock my keys in the car.

The immobilizer chip in the key is electronic, so the car will not start if the chip is damaged.

I've heard that some people who want to minimize bulky keys lock their remote + keys in the car, then carry just a cut key to get back into the car.

Great! I would still have my regular keys stored in the car, the valet is just to carry down with me. Thank you!
