Motorola site now has it listed for 1st half 2004 availability...anybody try using the sony z600 in our cars? Or is the motorla v500 coming out sooner??
I can get the z600 for $200 but was holding out for the motophones...

 

v500 is supposed to be already out in Europe so you can buy them now. US release date I have no idea on, Moto seems to be screwing around on these phones. The Z600 is a t610/t616 in a clamshell design so it should work just fine.

 

I see Motorola has the same problem with cell phones as it does with processor chips. Apple waited forever for the G3 chips Motorola made to pass 500 MHz....and the PC world passed Apple by as a result. Now Apple obtains most of its chips from IBM, which actually seems to be making some progress in chip speed.

With these cell phones, Moto seems to have peaked with the StarTAC series. Bummer. Maybe they should just make a StarTAC with Bluetooth. I LOVE my 7868, they'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hand....

It says "first half 2004"? It shouldn't be too far away... my cell guy said he would import this 4 band, 850/900/1800/1900, as soon as other countries selling it. He mentioned the end of 03 or Jan of 04. Some ppl have pre-ordered this... I'm not the crazy fan for cells, don't know what those are thinking...

 

You guys flamed me last month when I said you will not see the V600 this year.

I am sad, too.

 

The 600 is listed as a GSM, verizon does not support GSM, only CDMA
