V6 VS 4 cylinder

is it me or are 4 cylinder cars starting to get to crazy like there cars are super fast and they can really beat V6 cars.. im not talking about STI or EVO or ne cars like that..

im on the highway yesterday driving normal and i pass by a 2008 Accord Coupe 4 cylinder after i pass him all of the sudden he wants to ride my bumper and tail me then he wants to fly past me doin like 80 expecting me to catch him or something im like are u serious..i play wit him for alittle but its pointless ill beat him ne way..


then i get a 2008 Altima Sedan 2.5 S trying to race me im like oo come on gimme a break..lol will u 4 cylinders stop trying im like just go go speed away and leave me alone they wanna sit there ride my bumper and be stupid..i dont get it what is it with them..i thought it was just really funny..

haha i've had a few altima 2.5's mess around with me. i'll just stay in the same lane...be chill, until they get a little too close. by which they'll try to pass me... downshift, and them bbbbbroooooooooooooom away. lol

lol yea its like whats the point ur gonna loose to a V6 ne way why try and get embarssed...i figure why waste my gas on a race i know ill win..but it is fun when u just dip on them and they cant catch up..lol

I get it from the newer Altimas 2.5 S, Tiburons, and the WORST offenders by far are the Scion guys. Those things sound horrible with a loud exhaust.

LOL you beat me to it, but yeah I have seen a lot of those Prius guys freaking passed me while i'm doing 80mph. And they're just not pass, they kept on going and going.

here are the cars that LOVE TO DRIVE FAST but they still drive pos's

1. Saturn old school 2 door cars
2. Chev cavaliers
3. Dodge neons (non srt's)

I kid you not every car I see that is above drives like they are on the autobahn. And usually the faster the car the slower they drive

I see a silver Daewoo Lanos weaving in and out, trying to pass me and everyone else every morning on my commute in almost every morning. Apparently his 105hp beast can't go past 85 though

I know a few 4 bangers that would make you reconsider. Some people buy 4 cylinders because there is more aftermarket support resulting in more performance. I know a 4 banger that puts more to the wheels than you do to the crank somewhat modified and that's with only spending about $3g's which is a lot less than the difference of buying a 6 over a 4 and modding it.

^^ True. There are a lot of 4 cylinders out there you have to watch for. They will make you bite your tongue and swallow it. But..it takes a good deal of mods for a Civic or Integra or Scion TC to be able to keep up with us. However, there are many that can.

^Yeah I was leaving out the Civics, Integra's and Tc's just because it usually takes a lil more than the $$ amount I was estimating to make those things "fast". For instance a "frank" build done on a 7th gen Accord is mainly what I was talking about. Of course that also depends on what kind of deals you get on parts and labor.

its the opposite for me. i get all the v6 altimas, accords, and others trying to race me. prob, cause its an s2000 and they wanna show me up.

lol i been here where have u been?? now im not taking ne thing away from 4 cylinders but the amount of money u have to put into a 4 cylinder accord or scion or civic to even make it near fast is reatarded u might as well save ur money and get the 6 and if u wanna spend 3gs get a turbo or supercharger then see that V6 pushing out some real power where as the 4 cylinder that spent 3gs cant keep wit the 6 that just spend 3 gs..lol i dont know just not my style thats all but i do know what ur saying.. very understandable.

Umm or u can buy a 08 Cobalt SS, and have a faster car then the TL-s, and then u get much more aftermarket support for it, upgrade turbo, and everything else, same as the Audi A4 2.0T, just get a bigger turbo, or tune it and add couple lbs to it.

lol omg i dont know i cant see myself ever pimping a Chevy cobalt even if it is the SS its still a cobalt the way a neon SRT4 is an SRT 4 but still a neon..lol. but ur saying they have upgraded turbos for them well lets say u have a infiniti G37 with 330 HP and drop a supercharger or Turbo in it will the turbod out cobalt or audi 2.0 turbo keep up wit that G37??

i know the newer cobalts have 260 HP i raced one of the older SS cobalt and i smoked it..but to each his own its everyones prefrence if u wanna buy a 4 cylinder and turbo it out and put money into it thats all good no 1 is knocking ne one for that..and im not saying ne thing about Evo's or STI's or cars that are 4 cylinder turbo that push out some HP and move.. im talking about 4 cylinder cars in general u know what i mean...im not knocking ne one for driving a 4 cylinder it was just a funny story that i thought id share with everyone..

You do realize though, now that a turbo has been successfully fitted to a TL, it won't take any effort to slap Cobalt SS owners in the face whether they're turbo'd or supercharged.

400Whp at under 10psi shows a lot of promise compared to the Cobalt owners that need 22psi to run that same wheel power.

true.....but at the end of the day you still drive a cobalt. I would take the luxury and refinement over cheapy plastic rental car status with a turbo.

yeah but, compare the price difference in the srt4 to the g37s. also, the srt4 will cost a lot less to inrease horsepower because of the factory turbo. you say slap a turbo on the g37 but DAMN!!! how much is that gonna cost you. at this point the difference in money spent is HUGE! take that let over money from the g37 and the extra for the COMPLETE turbo kit, drop it in the srt4. and my guess, the srt4 is gonna walk you.

i have to say ive raced 2 rsx Type S with I/E mods like me and ive been semi impressed with them the first one was a kid i knew from another car forum we raced from a dead stop we were dead even till i pulled on him about a car or 2 length.. he was shocked he was like ill give it to u..haha and the i raced a black one yesterday he cheated though and jumped the light i was at his passanger window and started to pull on him to.. i dont is it after a certain MPH they get slower or soemthing cuz i always pull i dont know but there quick always give me a run for my money..

We are talking about engine comparison (4 vs 6) not $$$ of the whole car, plus the differences in the cost is the luxury and the technology of the car. If talking about money overall, just get a R1 or anything that in the 1000cc and u'll be beating most of the legal cars on the road.

depends on the car and the deals on labor you get

my h22 accord will tear my TL a new one all day long. and most v6's on the road..

after all the mods i have done to it, it still cost me less then my non-modded TL.
i like my TL's luxury look and feel. but for bragging rights.. i run the accord

like some have said. its just much easier to mod them. not much support for our v6 acura's/honda's

Gotta be more than Intake/Exhaust though, maybe a good tune. Nothing more, and they're still not that fast.

I've run 2 (buddy has 1 though it has Ebay mods), & the outcomes were the same. From 40 for about 2-4 seconds, they look like they may keep up. But once around 55, the TL Type S, at least just pulls away with little difficulty.

I still respect our little Acura brethren, though.

Power to weight ratio owns! My buddy had a B18C (GSR Engine) CX Hatch that weighed in at just under 2000lbs and he only put down 161WHP but he still ran 13's!

H22 Accords are no joke. I don't know what mods you have done..but saying you can take most V6s on the road is a pretty bold statement..

it can walk me all it wants ill still take the V6 over a NEON ne day..lol..

yea the SRT 4 is light im not sure how much it weighs and u drop a upgraded turbo in it i guess is what ur saying. and the srt is what 232 HP so as for argument sake im using the G37 as an example the G37 is a V6 with 330 HP STOCK the SRT 232 HP stock and u put 3gs into that G37 hows the SRT 4 gonna walk a car that now has over 400Hp where the SRT is just maybe touching 3something Hp with what he G came stock with it..i dont know if u understand what im trying to say in a roundabout way..and im not sure how much HP each car will push after mods and what mods ppl are putting into the cars thats just for argument sake im just saying and Indeed it still is a NEON i dont care how Turbod out it is its ugly and a NEON on wheels.. its just not my preference but to others who it is more power to u..lol..

and any car can push out alot of HP with some serious mods given ppl have the money for it which not many ppl do and some ppl see no point in modding there cars to crazy.. everyone tells me to put a turbo or supercharger in my car im like sure yea give me 3 to 5 gs and ill do it..lol with my exhaust and intake i only spend 520$ and thats the only expensive thing i did that i had money for at the time..lol the rest im not to worried about..lol

In the end it all depends on what you want and like as well as what your intent for the car is. Some people buy cars to make em fast, some people buy cars that look nice with nice features and are somewhat fast. So obviously the people who want to make fast cars buy 4 bangers because of the potential and cost. V6's are usually for the peeps who want to "pimp" a semi fast car.

Back to the original argument though if it were me I'd snag a Mazda Speed 3, slap a couple people around and call it a day. That's a car that comes with some luxury yet puts down like 280ft lbs tq and 263hp. Imagine the possibilities with that boosted 4 banger that cost wayyyy less than the cars we're talking about. Just put a lil money into it and you're hittin 300 to the wheels easy. Dont sleep on that one when they pull up next to you or ya might get embarassed like the guy in a 2nd gen RL did by me a couple weeks ago.
