v4 honda vs v6 engine of TL

I was over at Honda, still debating Accord vs TL. He was saying that V4 of Honda last longer than any V6 engine. He said ingeneral that V6 engines are more expensive to maintain and take care of. HAve you all noticed this?

First, I'd like to ee this V4 Honda car engine he was comparing the V6 to. In answer to this, no, the V6 Honda is a terrific engine and lasts a very long time like any engine that is well taken care of.

Who the heck were you talking too???? What an idiot. Basically no...I know of a few Chevy 350 V8's with well over 200,000 miles on them, with the original engine. It all depends on how you take care of your ride. The guy must have wanted to sell that Accord for a reason.

Get a TL - why would you even consider the V4 Accord over the TL

DUH!!! The only 4 that is not straight is the 4 cylinder boxer engine which has opposing cylinders. Before you ask the opposing config was known as boxer before the porsche boxster was ever thought about!

The only V4 Honda has ever built was a motorcycle engine (I believe)

There is nothing wrong with Honda's V6's or I-4's. Either way, you go forever. I've seen Legends with 300,000 miles and Accords with just as many. Its all about how you treat your ride.

Yeah, that I4 vs V6 tvo. (only bikes have V4 motors for now) The J-series motor (V6) off the bat will cost more to maintain than the K-series (I4) mainly because you get more MPGs with the I4 than the V6. Nothing new there.

In general most engines (domestic and foreign) will last nearly indefinitely if they're well maintained.

I had a 2003 Accord Ex for one year and now I have a TL. Trust me. The TL engine is SO MUCH BETTER than the Accord's. It doesn't vibrate in cold morning days, drives so much better, and of course, more power. Whoever told you about this comparison probably has not driven the TL. If you are worried about the maintenance cost (by the way Acura has a better warranty), maybe you should stick with an Accord.

Good luck!

I know some old cars had a V4. I meant no cars do now. The closest is probably WRX or Boxter's flat 4s.

I'm old and I do not remember the Sonet... however, I do not remember any Saabs except the new ones.

Also, didn't Suburu have an opposing 4 cyl?

And... why would someone try and sell a 4 cyl instead of 6? Even if you bought an Accord I would assume they would like to sell the 6 for more money

Boxsters have flat 6s, not 4s.

I'm 41. I had a friend back when I was 14 that had one of these little bombs. As simple as a lawnmower, but I've never seen a lawnmower with this much rust. It had a weird little V-4 in it.
How did I get on this subject? Hehe. It's fun thinking of that silly little car again. If anyone wants to see what one of these Sonets looked like, click the above link. I don't know how to post a pic on this site yet.

And tvo, if you are budget conscious, stick with the Accord I4. The TL is a much better car in terms of features than the Accord overall. There are a few guys on the 2GTL board with well over 100k on their TL. Don't worry about longevity.

Alright geezers , I was born the year after the first Sonett came about. Cute little car for its time, eh?
