V3 Triton video

I have a video up now showing some tips on the V3 Triton install as well as daylight/night time comparisons to SMD LED towers. It is a little on the long side (22 min).

VERY nice video and great comparison. My only question is why did you not install the V3 load resistors in the trunk? It is sooooo much easier and cleaner in that location and there is a perfect metal tray above the tail lamp for it to be mounted. That's where I put mine and its a great location to keep the box in a clean and easily accessible location. I love my Tritons!!

I didn't install the V3 resistors at all. The boxes there were specifically for the switchback functionality so they have to be installed up front. I don't have any load resistor at all on the passenger side. I did end up having problems on the drivers side with the switchback when the car was running (no problems with engine off). After talking to V-Leds, i put back in the load resistor on the drivers side that I had for the SMD Towers (I had taken them out after doing the turn signal mod). The load resistor solved all my problems on drivers side.

Btw, the metal tray above the tail light is exactly where I have the load resistor (4ohm 100w) installed. I found that spot way back when I first went to LEDs for turn signals.

Oh ok cool thanks for clarifying that. Yeah that tray in the back is a nice spot for the resistors. As for the boxes in front now I understand what those are. I did not know the switchbacks had such a large box with them, especially when you see other switchbacks are nothing more than the bulb and that's it.

Thanks again,
James

I was surprised as well. I talked to V-LEDs about it some. I didn't get an exact explanation out of them but they said the box must be used on the switchbacks otherwise it will blow the LEDs in the bulb. I had hoped to not use the box and make them into type 1 switchbacks but no such luck.

It seems that the electronics on the are pretty sensitive as other switchbacks work fine after the relay mod (getting rid of the load resistors) where as one side of the Tritons still required the load resistor even with the relay mod.
