^that will make it light up red but not blink at all.

so you see, we have a choice to make here.

i'm sure there is a way to do what we all want it to do but idk what that is.

EDIT: @ Jeremy...I agree with Aaron that it wont work....

^^^ that wont work....for the led to blink, you need the constant power to SHUT OFF while the indicating wire provides it the signal to blink....if the constant power does not turn off, then the module will not indicate....

Thats why you need a relay....and this has been done before on OEM sidemarkers and can be done on USR side markers....

buy this sidemarker:
http://www.uniquestyleracing.com/20actlclorsm.html

and Andy has a good DIY:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/g-043-blinking-sidemarker-diy-guide-suitable-3g-garage-703668/

this should make the sidemarker to stay on RED and blink Red when you indicate....

but his switchbacks were using two sets of LED's to achieve that, no? In this case it's the same set of LED's running both. I'd settle for solid red OR leave it white/red. Although having the side mirrors blink would likely make me not want to have any sidemarker switchbacks.

yup same LED...

so you supply the LED with constant power as you mentioned so it lights up RED...you will also connect the sidemarker to your Indicating wire through a relay...so when the indicating wire is HOT, the constant supply with go OFF, hence making it blink...

If I do this, will the USR side markers blink out of sync like they do on stock ones? Or will they blink in sync with the turn signals due to the extra wire?

Do what? Rewire?
If you just install it the way intended, it blinks in unison with the earth, the moon, the stars and all the other blinkers on the car.

Gerzand's blinking side marker mod causes them to blink out of sync with the turn signals when parking lights are on. I was wondering if that held true with the USR switchbacks. All I want is red blinking rear side markers in addition to the switchback ones up front but in unison with turn signals LOL

if you use these USR switchback sidemarkers as designed/advertised...they WILL blink in unison with your mirrors and turn signals, etc.

Yes I understand that. I have just been searching for a way to have red rear blinking side markers in unison with everything else. And be red on when lights are on. Not white. I want what you wanted haha

dude, they haven't even figured out how to get them to blink and be red yet...don't worry about the "in unison" part until that happens!

I don't like how the usr look with an oem one too...there's a difference in the color/design. Both oem, or both usr. USR is the simple solution...but honestly, there's NO reason why Gerzands relay mod wouldn't work on a set of base/type s oem sidemarkers. Make another set of them an wire them in the back. There, no more crazy rocket science! And choose your battles...out of sync when lights on aren't the worst thing in the world.

thanks. its reassuring that they are holding up.

hopefully the issue with the phone is resolved or maybe they are making more money with the hotline...

as a follow up, one of my questions was to find out exactly which wire needs to be connected and to where to allow the rear sidemarkers to stay red when lit and not blink. anyone know wire colors etc?

I gave up on the clips after multiple on and off of the car, I rely on a dab of rtv clear silicone to hold them on now. DO NOT put it anywhere near the edges...just the forward car side, a dab will hold them...otherwise the air catches them and pulls them out.

I did not have the issue with the tabs...I have heard many other have but I think its an easy fix if you get along well with your tools

i want a phone number to speak with them before i order anything. the fact that the one on the website is some strange sex line does not help. i also read that they don't answer emails frequently so i did not try that route. if anyone has a working number or current working email please post it.

thanks.

i got in touch with USR by phone just now and they are sending me info via email regarding any discounts that they may offer at this time. They answered all my questions and were very polite and helpful.

^that sounds more like it!

Anil, yeah, I did box cutter to make the tabs more prominent, that didn't work...then did cardboard rolled up and under to keep pressure on, that didn't work...so a little RTV and no worries!
