I just bought a used 2006 TL certified. I went back today and got the manual and the spare key as they were unavail when i bought the car. The sticker was inside and it had 2 extra dealer installed options (from when the car was orig sold) that I dont / didnt know about.
Stripe at 99.00
protection package at 559.00

can anyone shed some light as to what these are, besides the obvious?

Does it have pinstripes? Also the protection package, at that price sounds like interior not the paint. You could also call the original dealer and asked what their prices are for protection package.

 

no pin stripe, at least down the side. there is a small stripe on the front headlamps.

 

The protection package could be the typical dealership scam of basically a wax job and leather care product - maybe undercoating... Truly a waste of money.

On the other hand, I believe they once lumped mud guards, body side moldings, trunk tray, and wheel locks (possibly other items) and called it a protection package...?? Do you have any of those items ??

when I purchased my 06 TL the Dealer whacked me with the protection package, ie, mud flaps front and read, floor mats and some other BS for the same 595, it is a profit maker for them, nothing but BS but you have no choice!

 

ahh...yes i have wheel locks a trunk tray and floor mats. bet thats it. thanks. now i wronder about this stripe?

 

It sounds like the previous owner may have removed the stripes. That's what I did when I got mine.

The dealers add this package into the price for the car, but most people get it deducted because they know it is a scam.

 

Yea, I just regret finding out about this site AFTER I bought my car.

I would have been well prepared on dealership traps. Oh well. I'm still enjoying my car!
