I am going to look at an 06 tomorrow evening. More than likely I will buy if it what its said to be with condition and such.

is there a list of oem items that came with the car from the dealer? Like honestly I have no idea how many and what type keys came with an 06 tl 6sp MT are the fobs built in to the key ect? I also would like some suggestions on what to look for like known problems

the items I know to ask about
owners manual
navi code
jack and spare
wheel lock key.

 

Make sure to ask the owner to not drive the car hours prior to you checking out the car. check the status of the gasket upon your arrival.

as far as i know, my tl came with 2 keys (both with integrated fobs) and a valet key.

 

which gasket would you be referring to?

there is a 3rd gear grind or pop out commonly found with the MT.
its an easy fix, with a a change of MTF fluid to GM syncromesh modified

2keys, 1 valet key.
I have a 06 6MT as well.


you should have the car inspected by a mechanic, if you dont know what you're looking for in terms of mechanical failure.
also, take some time to read some of the problems associated with these cars in the problem and fixes subsection. that will give you a little more information on what to expect.

 

Are you buying from a private seller? I would ask to see any and all maintenance records. A Carfax report would be nice too. Pop the hood and check all of the fluid levels too(ps fluid, brake fluid, coolant, oil, etc) You can tell a lot about how well a car was maintained just by the condition of the fluids.

 

I have car fax. I will check fluids and such. Going to be hard to pass up it's priced really good probably to good at 13500

 

sorry it is a private seller. I am pretty mechanical I do all my own maintenance on my cars water pump oil brakes ect. just pulled transmission out of my truck. i wont crack the case let someone else do that lol
I know the normal stuff to look out for but like the 3rd gear issue I would have had no idea with out looking on the forum
