Upgrading to Type-S Seats

First off, I love my TL in EVERY way - except one. I hate the fact that when I'm in the twisties or racing around a reducing-radius on-ramp curve I'm holding on to the wheel for dear life and pushing down hard with my left foot on the foot pad to prevent from sliding off my seat and out the window.

So I'm thinking I'll upgrade to the new TL-S seats that are more bolstered. But I have a couple of questions. 1) Will the TL-S seats match the parchment TL interior? 2) Do I need to replace the whole seat, or just the cushions?

TIA!!

Serious question, are you a smaller person?

The seat hug me just fine in the turns.

If your current seat is too slippery for you, try a seat cover, like Wet Okole or sheepskin vest. Both are removable and have higher friction than the TL leather.

Changing seat cushions won't help if the problem is that the side bolsters are too wide for you. Your options then are either to have an upholstery shop build up the side bolsters (assuming that can be done without affecting the SRS) or to replace the seat[s] with something more suitable. You should spend time in a seat before buying, but my guess is that a Type-S seat will be too expensive and still not fit you well (unless it has adjustable bolsters).

Oh, I forgot to mention it to OP ajeetm: seating/driving position matters a lot, and more with leather seats due to lower friction than cloth (unless you have suede seats or inserts). I'm on the shorter, smaller side of average size- 5'9" and 160 lbs.- and also find the TL seats work well for me in canyon runs.

Try changing to a more upright driving position to get more leverage and stay upright-- it might save a few $$ compared to changing or modifying seats.
I change the seating positions as necessary in all my cars for autocrosses, canyon running and long distance running. The "low rider" laid-back driving position is horrible for high performance driving, while a slightly more reclined driving position is more suitable to me for long drives and more upright position works best for auto-X and canyons.

I'm pretty normal sized - 5'11" 175lbs. I'll try a different seating position per Will's suggestion to see if that helps, and keep my window rolled up.

I'm about the same size as you (5'10", 175 #) and just don't notice myself sliding. Maybe I'm so used to it that I've adjusted. Will have to tell by driving more.....

Yea I'll try driving in my birthday suit - should stick pretty well I think I'm just used to my RSX which is so well bolstered it doesn't even have "Oh Sh*t" handles.

Either that or neuronbob isn't driving "spirited" enough

My Cobra has incredible seats compared to these. Power bolsters and all. There is absolutely no comparison between the two. I can't tell you enough how much better the entire car feels with a good seat in it. If all you want to do is cruise around, the factory seat seems to be fine. If you want to lean on the car, one of the best upgrades you can do is the seats. As long as it doesn't compromise the rest of the ride, I would highly recommend the upgrade.

heh. If you think the TL seats hold you just fine you're never driven at 10/10th in a race seat and harnesses. Gives you a whole new perspective.

Just don't stain the leather I think driving in something made of nylon will make you slide more, or is it cotton? Try wearing one pair of both and see in which u slide more.

I just treated the leather and that caused more slippage.
