To upgrade or not to upgrade
First of all thanks in advance for any advice/comments. I have an '04 TL A-Spec 6SMT with 88k miles and Nav. Car runs absolutly perfect!! Totally in love the the 3g TL's and cant imagine driving anything else. Had the thought of purchasing an 07 or 08 but prob will not be able to find a 6sp anytime soon. Would consider an automatic since they have the paddle shifters.
My thoughts and concerns are:
My car has paint fading on the hood and a small scratch on the bumper from some a-hole. Want to have them repaired.
Timing belt and water pump are coming due
No Aux input!
Dashboard concerns. Looks good but still worry.
Am i going to hate driving an automatic??
Would like to upgrade while you can still find 07's and 08's with fairly low miles.
If i do change which year do I go for??
Any issues with the auto transmissions of those years?
Guy in Tucson has an '07 type S auto with 77k for $20,000, looks clean.
Anyways those are my thoughts, thanks again for any help and maybe someone will talk me back to earth.

if you got the MT or paddle shift only available with Type S, Type S can be hard to find and usually a little bit over price due to the demand of the market. Here is thing to consider before you buy the Type S, if you can afford the payment on the new car. If you have extra money to spend on the Type S, do you own the current TL out right? 07 or 08 doesn't matter and AT issue isn't worry for those years. If AT isn't a big issue with you then I would proceed but for FYI AT Type S top out at 130 mph before getting a fuel cut, it put down the same WHP as your MT.

I have the 2004 Acura TL with 106k miles- There are links on getting timing belt parts on this site (300 to 400 dollars shipped) I'm just waiting for the reminder to turn on to do mine. I also installed the isimple and love it,.... for my dashboard I use 303 protectant (15.00 dollars) every month and my interior looks brand new and no greasy residue. I've only flushed my transmission only ove @ 75k miles and will do it as well when I do my timing belt( no problems so far)******** The best add ons were : lowering my car w/ eichbach springs and camper kit (800.00), progress rear sway bar(200.00), dark blue led's in the whole interior(45.00),shaved drivers side door handle(15.00), chrome dual exhaust tips(150.00)....i bought the car in 2005 w/ 24k miles and the darn thing still looks modern and clean.......

You know what you have, it runs well, and has only minor issues. For just essentially a few hundred, get the hood repainted and get an Aux input. 88K is just broken in, plus, you'll take a financial hit to sell yours, and then spend a lot more for what is essentially the same car. It really doesn't make economic sense, unless you really have to have a newer car. Also, since you won't know how the newer TL was cared for, you risk getting a car that wasn't as 'babied' as well as what you already have.
I wouldn't do it. You have a 6 speed A-Spec 04, which is a very nice car. I suspect you will have seller's remorse if you give it up.
