The UNofficial Seat Difference Thread

Since there seems to be a thread for differences in different years for the A-spec kits, I figured there should be a thread for differences in the seats between the years.

Front Seats:
2004 base TL, only has 2 sections on the bottom of the seat:

2005-2008 base TL, now has 3 sections on the bottom of the seat to prevent butt prints:

2007-2008 Type-S, now has 4 sections on the bottom of the seat, and plus a two toned design for black interior:

Rear Seats:
2004-2008 base TL:

2007-2008 Type-S:

These are just the differences in seat design. There are color differences too, I think 2004-2006 base TL had 1 set of colors, and 2007-2008 base TL had another set of colors, with subtle differences. And the 2007-2008 Type-S just have different design altogether. I think the main thing here is to state the differences in the years. This info may help someone who is buying a TL notice if the seats have been swapped due to an accident or something.

To add some info I know you guys basically said there are subtle difference in interior between 04-06 and 07-08. But here are a couple key items of changes and additions to the 07-08 vehicles:

-completely new instrument cluster
-new steering wheel
-new navigation interface
-backup camera
-aux input
-OEM footwell ambient lighting
-auto headlights
-Type S has ANC (active noise cancellation). Microphone in rear and front headliner.
-switchblade key

Cant think of anything else at the moment.

I noticed the area under the headrests are felted on my friends 2008 TL while my 2006 are not. The felt really helps keep eliminate the contact squeaking.

I get the moral of this story "don't settle for less, get a type S or you will regret" yeah -there are some upgrade in 07-08 if anyone can afford to buy a base then you guy better go for the 07-08 unless you only want MT or don't want to hunt down a TL-S MT.

07-08 TL have 2 color options, ebony and taupe. (also note that the door panels, headliner, and armrest correspond with the seats)

taupe:

ebony:

I'm still researching about the color options for the 04-06, but I think it's black, gray, and camel

Exclamation BIG difference between '05 and '07-'08 passenger seat

I have a base non-navi 6MT '05 114K mi and a base navi 5AT '07 with 187K. A jerk hit me while I was driving the '05 and totaled it. The '05's interior is in MUCH better shape, especially the seat leather, and I'm in the process of swapping parts between them before I hand over the '05 to insurance. In the process of swapping seats I noticed that it appears that the ODS is built into the '05's passenger seat. There's two yellow-marked cables on the underside of the '05 passenger seat, one of which goes off somewhere under the floor, and my guess is that it goes to the dash air bag. I don't have an Acura service manual for the '05 so I don't know for sure.
