Union76 100 octane gas

A nearby Union76 has COMPETITION 100 gas for sale.

Competition 100 (unleaded) is designed for high performance street cars, race cars, watercraft, motorcycles, etc. In fact, engines with compression ratios as high as 14 to 1 will benefit greatly from this clean-burning specialty fuel.
Controlled front end volatility provides freedom from vapor lock when you're on the hottest tracks and roads. A sophisticated additive keeps port fuel injectors, carburetors and intake valves clean. This unique fuel is formulated for all engines and blends with any street gas.

Has anyone tried this in their car??

Re: Union76 100 octane gas

After using it, will ppl be addicted to fueling this only into their car?

I remembered my friend in LA always fed his BMW with some high octane gasolene while bringing to the track, but the price and rarity made him only use that in the track.

Octane is not a measurement of how much power you can make. LEADED racing fuels (higher octane) burn more slowly because they are MADE to SLOW DOWN your burning speed. i.e. In a stock quad the last thing you need is a slower burning fuel if the quad already runs fine on octane 91, without pinging, then running 110 octane or a mix of 110 and 91 will do nothing to help detonation if you are not detonating!

You can't prevent something that is not happening! That is like taking out hail insurance when you live in hawaii.

Oops.. got out of topic. Octane fuel in hawaii is about 6 bucks +/- per gallon.

Reread my post - I was just asking out of curiosity. I'm in Cali quite a bit and know you guys pay a lot for a gallon of petrol!

Here in Charlotte, NC it's about twice the cost of 93. Not worth it IMHO

:wow: That is a hefty price to pay, but I would still like the option of easy accessibility to it for special occasions.

The very negligible benefit and I mean very negligible benefit isn't worth the high cost. The cars computer has to be calibrated for octane that high before you see anything measurable.

It does smell good coming out the back though.

Its not good for your engine. Use 91-93 octane unless you want to replace your spark plugs.
