ULTIMATE Navigation Question...

Okay, here's my Nav question for the experts that have played with it:

I'm driving along...I want to find a Chinese restaurant...I say: "Show all Chinese restaurants" with the voice command...it shows several blips on the screen a few seconds later (or not, if there are none).

Now, can I call up detailed information on a particular blip (restaurant) complete with full address and phone number?

And here's where we get really tricky folks: If it provides me with the phone number, can I use a voice command to have the system dial the restaurant's phone number straight through my bluetooth enabled phone?

Can it do this, and if so, has anyone tried it?

When I went to the TL launch party a few weeks ago, the salesman demonstrated that very feature. We searched for a Chinese restaurant and the nav provided a listing sorted by distance. (I don't recall seeing any icons on the map screen) Using voice commands, he selected the closest, gave the command to call the restaurant, and it hooked him up right now. He probably pissed off the place, because he called them several times that night. He had his personal Sony Ericsson T616 synched with the TL Bluetooth. Later, we called home to see if the kids were still alive and that worked great, too. So I bought a Sony Ericsson T616 and have ordered a Anthracite/Ebony TL w/nav. Funny how that works out.

I have only tried to filter restaurants on the map once. My recollection is that from the map view, you cannot reduce the icons by subtype. Thus, you can have it show all restaurants, but not just chinese (granted you can do this in the list view - as mentioned by gotsand).

From the map view you would have to click on each restaurant icon to bring up the pop up of the name. Then, if you liked it, you could click again and it would bring up the nav confirm window that has the address/phone and the bluetooth link button.

I can see why you would want to do it your way. SOmetimes just looking at the "distance to..." on a list is not as helpful as seeing approx where the place is. I use the "destination map" a lot before selecting a restaurant in order to be sure it is in the direction I want to go.

If some other NAVI owner has different feedback, I would be interested too.

YES! I've had my car two days, and yes. When you see the address for the restaurant, simply click "call". You will see the icon on the upper left corner. Click the voice command for the NAVI and say "call". That's it. it works great for mine.

I haven't tried it, but according to the Nav manuak, you can turn icons on and off, and for restaurants you can do this by type (showing the blips on the map).
