Ugh!!!!! Need some opinions please!!!

Ok so i just forked out over 2200 dollars on BRAND NEW Work SC1. I had Discount Tire install the tires and they forgot to put on the rubber boots over the poly bushing clamps which resulted in the scratching my wheels (approx 4 or more spots on each wheel) on the outer lip. At first i thought i did it but all of them are same exact.

I went to Discount Tire and showed them my wheels and they automatically admitted fault and said they would have them fixed. Well i got a call back today and they said the Wheel Repair people they use did not guarantee there work and how they would fix it would be anodized polish which would not be the same exact finish as my Works ORIGINALLY came in. Their work was around a 450 dollar job.

Well they asked me do i wanna go through with it and i said HELL NO! and then they asked well we will just cut YOU the 450 dollar check. I said HELL NO!! i said i just paid 2200 dollars and you wanna buy me out for 400!!!!!

Sorry for the rant but what do i do? Do i ask them to FIX THE DAMN WHEELS and if they cant do i have a right to GET MY MONEY BACK (Full Refund!!) or what? I am very heated right now and need some folks opinions

Cliffs
1, Discount Tire scratches the wheel
2. Discount Tire admits to damage
3. Discount tries to buy me out for 400 dollars or get wheel finished in a different polish
4. Do i have the right to tell them if wheels cannot be fixed can i get my refund back or they buy wheels back.

This situation sounds eerily familiar...

Just get a refund and buy some new ones and get them mounted at a place that doesn't have "Discount" in its name.

damn they fucked up! i'd try to have them buy the wheels back. let them cut you a check for $2200 not some measely $400.

on the other hand, there is a nice place that does good wheel repair work here in charlotte. princewheels.com

give them a call, see what they say and have discouttire pay for that work.

Well the thing is "Discount" is known for their quality work. They are a lot better than Big 10 Tires and Tires Plus and all these other Tire Shops around here.

they either give you a new set of wheels, or give you a refund and you buy a new set somewhere else...

i personally would not accept repaired wheels... they messed up, so they have to fix it for you... you expect brand new wheels... that is what you pay for...

EDIT: if anything, they should have insurance that covers this kind of damage... or make the damn tech who screwed up pay for it out of his paycheck...

Ya know VERY good point on i bought new wheels and i shouldn't settle for repaired wheels cause i bought them new. I also thought about their whole insurance clause they would have incase something like this happened or even damaging a car while putting wheels on or whatever. I guess i am about to go have a chat with the Store Manager

Well the manager wont be in until Wednesday so im not sure if i should just go ahead and go to corporate about this or wait and talk to him. I am sure he is gonna tell me that finishing the wheel will be no problem and then when i tell him that wont work...then him tell me well i will have to talk to my boss which i could have done already.

talk to corporate, this is $2200 your talking about...they fucked up simple as that.

the manager is not the one who is going to make a decision to return that kind of money to you, definitely a higher up guy for that

Shoot imagine spending $3800 on some Volks and they "Discount Tires" fvcks them up....lol. Atleast they only scratch one RIM and that was from dropping an object on it. The installer was a Manager now what the hell do you do with that? I'm just not going to give DT anymore business then I have to.

OP you should have them buy them back if damages is that bad. Even that one ssssmall scratch and I don't even want the rims anymore and I spent $4700 tires and poor install lol lol lol fvck me for being nice guy arrrrghhh!

Your exactly right but i am thinking that maybe he can do something to resolve this problem way before it has to go to corporate. Its about like Acura messing up your door plastic and you tell them to fix it and it comes they wanna get a used one so you talk to the manager to see what he can do and if he cant resolve it then go to ACURA Corporate.

I guess i will be going Wednesday with these two options.

1. Give me the Wheels +refund.
2. Order new wheels and get them shipped at no cost to me and me roll on these for now

OH NO NO NO!!!! I have 4 scratches on EVERY WHEEL! from the claw that clamps down on the wheel. Im sorry to hear that you paid that much cause at first i was around 4400 at "Discounts Price" for these wheels and tires but i had them price match to Weaksauce for the wheels and then i had them price match the tires to Vulcan which made my purchase so low. If you paid retail to Discount Tire. I AM VERY SORRY FOR YOU!

So far everyone has touched on a valuable point. A. You bought them new and they messed them up. B. It's their problem, NOT yours just bc they f'd em up. C. They DO have insurance for this kind of thing. The manager gets a hit on his bonus but that reverts to "NOT YOUR PROBLEM." You give them 2 options: Replace with new OR FULL refund. Period. End of discussion. Dont let them push you around.

You are right and i will know more come Wednesday and trust me i will NOT let them walk on me for this. If these were stock wheels i could care less but we are talking about considerably more amount of money.

I am not one to back down considering when i bought my TL Type S i asked them what the drive out price was. He came back with 44K and i laughed and told him NO. Then he asked me what i was looking for and i said 34K. He then laughed at me and said there was NO WAY!. I told him i am already in a TL (04 WDP) and i could care less and walked out. Around 20 min later as im driving down the road he told me to come get it

Hey bud, that really sucks. Definately get corporate on this or a district manager who is in charge of not just one store. I would push them on ordering you a replacement set as well as correctly mount them free of charge for your headaches. Good luck!

The whole thing that sucks about getting the replacements.... is i had to wait 3 1/2 months for these and now i will have to do it all over again UGH!!

But i would rather do that than be stuck with these!

Well he is on "vacation" so i can wait until Wed. I did say though i dont want anyone fired as that wouldn't solve but one problem. I told them they could take my wheel and show their "crew" on the PROPER way of mounting and dismounting a tire on a EXPENSIVE wheel. Just cause you fire that one guy doesn't mean the next one knows how.

Def dont settle for refinished or anything less then either full replacement or full refund. I would definitely skip over the store manager, and try to go to corporate level with district manager and dont let them give you corporate bullshit since they have already admitted the fault.

Good luck hope everything works out for you.

well i don't SPECIFICALLY blame "Discount Tire" for this. Every shop has some DA out there that will mess something up time to time. I would definitely take my situation and stand over the guys shoulder and make sure he uses THE POLY BUSHINGS!!! and the RUBBER BOOT!!!! that is to be used when installing on wheels like these with this kind of finish. The claws on the machine is what did this and if he had used the right shit this wouldn't have happened

well the intentions was to get them fixed until i heard they don't guarantee their work and that the polish may not look like the rest of the wheel and could have a slight whitish look

Sooooooo either give the money plus wheels or get new wheels and give these back when they come in!!!

I bid you and myself luck. Hopefully this doesn't happen to me as I stated above. I figured they would offer to just pay to get you new ones, that sounds like what my Discount Tire would do, they have done it before (replaced rims for full price) I agree with not blaming them though, it wasn't completely their fault.

Who the F doesnt guarantee their own work??? I'm sorry bro but if I go to Midas and the screw up my shit, it's gonna get fixed. You always have the Better Business Bureau (BBB). I could understand if this were some "Maw & Paw" tire place but this is a national chain. Plus those wheels are BAD ASS!! what brand are the btw? I'd like to look into their product line. Any who I'd be anxious to hear the results.

Well here is the update. They called me back and said they are going to either send the wheel back to Work to be fixed or find a shop that Work recommends. I said look this isnt up for discussion on what YOU want to do as these are MY wheels that I bought. I told them i bought NEW wheels not REMANUFACTURED wheels. I want either new wheels ordered or my money back (full refund) and keep the wheels. They said they will be calling me back!
