i just find it a lotta trouble to drill the spoiler in

so i sold my OEM base trunk lip and bought a roof spoiler and an m3 lip from kyonick from ebay
all together was about 130 so im satisfied and it looks great on my car

 

^ I don't like any other spoiler on the TL other than the Type S deck lip and the V2 roof spoiler.. I've seen the combination before but what my plans are the way I like it so.

PS - Did you convert your front/rear bumper to Type S?

Geez... when did the price shoot up that high!! Lot of us bought these when the Type S was first introduced for like $95 bux shipped brand new and already painted.

Yup. When they realized it wasn't a replacement part anymore, but people were using them as an accessory. Crazy on the mark up. They had to make it that high because the A-spec one is around $300 and its smaller. Luckily my dealer sells them at $259 shipped as an accessory.

 

Is there a vendor here that can get the type s deck spoiler for cheaper than what it is now? I want one but its crazy how expensive they are now.

 

Cheap route is ebay.. Mine was 110 painted wdp. Installs with 3m tape and looks great.

 

^ Are you sure its a type s one? The type s attaches with studs and double sided tape.I don't think there is currently and replica type s trunk lip.

 

^ Correct the one he bought must have been a base spoiler as there is a vendor who sells them for that price.

 

I got mine a few years back from Woodbine Acura (Canada) OEM 07 Type-S Lip Spoiler..all in installed and everything for $130 or so.

 

This was a "replica" probably...check out the Spoiler Shop on Ebay.

 

I haven't seen anyone that sells a good replica TL-S trunk spoiler.

Bryce what you have is a replica of the oem BASE spoiler.

And yes the base spoiler "kind of" looks like the type-s one to the un trained eye, but anyone with a type-s or is really familiar with it can easily tell it's not a type-s lip.

The type-s is more bold and pronounced looking. It looks more aggressive whereas the oem BASE / replica both look smaller and less aggressive.

Something tells me you bought that from eBay thinking it's a replica of the Type-s lip when it's not. There's also other replicas of base model lips that can be had for less than $110 shipped painted.

If the eBay seller stated it's a type-s lip in the ad than he's definitely lying.

 

Anyone who bought one recently for a decent price please share. Its crazy how its $500-700 now.

 

Where u get that replica bryce? I might just settle for that since its so damn expensive for the oem type s one. Also how much was it?

 

I didnt even know they made a "base" spoiler but i do see the difference in height of spoiler but i dont like the fact you have to drill into the trunk and cant resell down the road haha

Yea i didnt even notice that till now. I can tell now but i guess its a preference because i would never spend that much on a spoiler. But i see the difference! Thanks guys

 

You don't have to drill holes if you don't want to, but than again it's all preference. Drilling it will make it more secure so thieves can't rip it off. That spoiler is anywhere from $300-$500 new / used. Some people would rather have that tightened down securely if they spent that much money on it.

However I got my type-s spoiler for $75 and have it mounted by only 3m tape. Lots of 3m tape. I didn't want to drill holes in my trunk either

 

Everyone on here recommends the ebay one from thespoilerstore. I just purchased one the other day and am waiting on it. You cant beat the price and from what everyone says they are the best place to get the TL replica spoiler. Looks like they took all their listings down for Christmas though.

^Its still different. They market it as a type s style and use a generic photo of a type s rear end in the ad, but its still going to be different.

Agree no one til this point has made a type-s replica

 

If I ever get my hands on a Type-S spoiler for a steal (ideally less than $200), I would be willing to lend it to a shop and get a mold of it done and tell them to become a vendor on here (and also ebay) to sell because I know the demand would be high.

 

Honestly I'm surprised there isn't a replica one by now.

 

I wanted one but wow that's expensive. haha

 

Please let us know if a vendor decides to make a real type s replica. I'm interested.
