Type-S Tails and A-Spec

Just got my A-spec kit installed.
Planning on picking up the Type-S Tails.

Would I need to remove the a-spec kit to swap out the tails?

I don't think the rear lip has to be completely removed from the bumper to install the tails since it's part of the bumper.

also, some members have replaced the tails successfully without removing the entire bumper/aspec kit (the top has to be loose enough for you to reach the bolts). I would remove the bumper competely to install the tails.

I didnt have to completely remove my rear bumper when I did mine. Remove the screws in the wheel wells, then all the bolts up top and you can pop one side back at a time and replace the tails

^^Exactly what MWalsh9152 said....that's what I did

It's not that difficult, and I believe there is a write up DIY on here somewhere..... good luck

I just unhooked the entire topside of the bumper - makes it a little easier since you don't have to flexs the bumper with one hand while ratcheting with the other.

It was like a 2 hour job the first time - I could probably do it all again in 30-45 minutes. The wiring for the tails is a PITA though

same here, it took me about 2 hours to put them in, but about 30 mins to take them back out.

The Wiring isnt TOO bad, you unplug the small plug from the board and pull it up and out of the assembly, putting it back in you feed it down through then use a pair of needle nose pliers, or tweezers would probably work too to pull it up and twords the recepticle

glowrdr/all: with that method, you didn't even have to touch the screws in the wheel wells?

You do still have to take them out - they are what attaches the top of the bumper cover to the bottom of the actual metal fender. Without taking those screws out, you can't unhinge the bumper from the side of your car.

I ended up having to remove the rear wheels to do this. I couldn't find my little 90 degree screwdrivers. Much easier too since you have to remove the mudflaps (maybe that was why I removed the wheel )

If you cant get a 90 degree screw driver... try a socket wrench with a phillip drill bit , it worked for me

thanks for the great info/tips guys!

So either way, I'll have to pull back part of the a-spec rear lip on both sides?
