Type S shift knob will not go on.

Hello,

I bought an OEM Type S shift knob for my '06 AT. My stock knob comes on and off with ease. The Type S knob will not go on at all no matter how hard I push. I think I may have broken the plastic bushing from trying too hard. The bushings look exactly the same. Any tips for getting this thing on there?

Thanks in advance

Where'd you purchase the shift knob from? If from a dealer have them exchange it if you are tired of trying

I bought it from ebay from a seller with very high feedback and he sells a lot of them. He said he hasn't had a problem with them before. He offered a refund. Here's what I have done so far.

1. Tried for about 20 minutes without modifying it to just screw it on.

2. Drilled the opening to a larger diameter. This made it slide down a little lower, but the threads still won't catch.

3. Used a blow-dryer on it for about 15 minutes to heat up the plastic. Threads still will not catch.

It really shouldn't be that hard. My stock knob comes on and off without even trying. I'm going to send it back and go buy one from the dealer.
