07 CBP. When I first got the car in oct, the first week I pulled up to 2 CBP 2 days in a row. Got a friend that has a 07 WDP and a neighbor has a KBP not sure what year and saw a couple around Philly area. Base tl's are very common around here.

i have an 05 base 6MT with navi....my trim level code is 5. this may be the indicator for navigation option (since all type-s models have a navi). maybe someone with a non-navi base can share the trim level code in their VIN, so we can collectively "decode" the VINs.

the only thing that would be exclusive to indicate type-s would be the chassis code.

Wow, I thought all TL Type-S came with navigation. Anyways, I purchased a 2007 MRP TL-S (6 MT) with navigation in Indiana about a month ago. I am currently at Fort Campbell, KY but transitioning to San Antonio, TX area in a couple of months.

they do. navi is an option only on the base models. all type-s models come with navi standard.

They do!

There are no options on the TL Type S. Your only choices are interior color which were either taupe/ebony or ebony/silver. Also, if you want to be very picky you can technically consider the HPT package as an option I guess. For example my 07 TL Type S window sticker says TL Type S HPT which is the high performance tire package. Nothing else is different though except for the tires are a performance summer tire. Other than that Acura made it very simple when buying a Type S!

Ok, that is what I thought. However, I thought I read in an earlier post on this thread that someone had a TL-S without navi.

That is what I thought too. However, I thought I read in an earlier post on this thread that someone has a Type S without navi. BTW, mine also has HPT with ebony/silver interior. Although, I bought mine used last month.

I've got an 07 TL-S, CBP, 5AT, 19UUA76507A033001

We really need to gather all the info we can on these cars. They're not NSXs' but they're still rare.

Type-S factory options were summer tire or all-season tire. Everything else was standard equipment.

exterior/interior colors were the only choices.

I saw a ASM Type S a couple weeks ago going to the casino here but he had a kid in the back seat and was smoking. (scratching head) And he had out of state tags so its not local.

Other than that I have seen 2 base 3g's and 1 4g TL here. I own the only Type S in this area as far as I know.

I have an 06 WDP, Ebony, 6spd, Navi. AFAIK it is a pretty rare model. My Vin is 19UUA65656A803115 Pretty sure the 8 means it is canadian. I would love to know how many were made in this configuration.

hmmm...looking over the VINs on cars.com...it seems like the trim level is not navi dependent.

the 04-06 MT with navi have trim level 5
seems all base models AT with or without navi are trim level 2???

i see a couple of 04-05's MT with trim level 6 (HPT???)

perhaps the 5 refers to the "sport" model.

if you think about the OEM parts sites and they ask for what trim level?
Base, non-navi
base, navi
sport, navi
sport, navi with HPT
etc...

04-06 the sport models were the ones with 6MT, 07-08 you had the type-s.

Thats very possible that it refers to the sport model...Seeing as that would explain the 5 being on both the 04-06 MT and the 07-08 TL-S...That makes better sense to me...

I will have to keep trying to figure out if there are 5 levels of trim...

for 04-06 the options were:
base
base with navi
sport
sport with navi and HPT
sport with navi
sport with HPT

07-08 options were:
base
base with navi
type s
type s with HPT

so what we need to find are the owners in these various categories and find out the trim numbers from those.

cars.com seems to give the best sampling rather than trying to figure it out from the sign in thread. i've noticed a bunch of different numbers for the 9th digit in the VIN as well.

Mine is 19UUA65514A027277
I have an 04 6mt w/o navi w/o HPT
For the 7th digit, 5=6mt, 6=AT
For the 8th digit, 2=AT, 5=6mt, 6=6mt with HPT
9th digit means nothing
...IIRC

yeah i looked up the 9th digit...its some crazy equation that involves all the letters and numbers of the VIN which comes to the check digit number. as it pertains to the car...it means nothing.

the 8th digit cannot solely mean that a 5 =6MT (might work for the 04-06 model years, but not the 07-08). chrisj has found that ALL type-s models have the 5 in their VIN. at least this is what i have gathered.

^--- 8th is trim, 7th specifies the transmission. All type-S's would be "5" since they are all the same trim.

7th character: 5 for Manual, 6 for Auto

i was referring to acuracake's post...he was referring to transmissions for the 8th digit as well.

so for the trims can we safely say:
2=base, 5= sport (6MT in 04-06, type-s for 07-08), 6=HPT??

If u scroll to the bottom it says 2004-2006, so it must be different for 07-08 like trigirl said.

HPT was an option for the type-s...however did they have their own trim line designation like the 04-06 MT??

2008 Base: 19UUA662#8A[6 digit serial]
2008 Type-S AT: 19UUA765#8A[6 digit serial]
2008 Type-S MT: 19UUA755#8A[6 digit serial]

# indicates the check digit... no idea how that number is determined but must be based on some algorithm.
I am not sure if this was already pointed out but I noticed a trend. The # before the second A looks to be the year model.

and we have confirmation....trim line 6 is for HPT for all of 04-08 (sport/type-s with HPT).

okay...we've decoded the VIN...still doesn't help us get production numbers by color.

VIN's will get us trim and transmission, but not color combo breakdowns.

i think the fascination here is how many 04-06's were truly 6MT, how many had the HPT...even more intersting would be how many of the 04-06's were designated "Aspec" and registered with Acura. and then how many type-s models were 6MT and HPT trims.

i've kind of wondered of all of these...how many are still on the road?? seems like there have been a number of TL's that have been totaled.

Should we make a VIN collection thread? Tell people to just include a portion of their VIN incase they're worried about it.

i wonder where the ...00001 of each year is....like the nsx commercial...seinfeld wants the first one.

or how about a poll of some sorts that counts all the different combos??
color combos, transmission, year (based on OG stock specs-those with a MT conversion can't say they have a MT, when the VIN says its AT, same with color combos-members painting their cars different from stock or swapping interiors, navi conversions don't count either).this way it's less invasive with the VINs. or would this be too complicated. it gives us a rough sampling of what's out there. plus chrisj already gathered a bunch of VINs with colors...

we need a computer data analyzer to put this into the check VIN data base to pull up into on the cars....the unique cars of the TLs would be the 04-06 MT, and the 07-08 type-s.

It's becoming a little complicated to find out something so simple. I wish Acura would help.

This would help so much...

I really dont understand why people are so scared to put their vin out there but its up to them...

I think the hardest part is that the TL-S numbers look to be all over the place and I think you may have a TL-S that is #111111 and a base TL that is 111112 which will make it really hard to get production numbers...

We need a group of VIN's of at least 10 of each trim level...

Anyone hear back from Honda?

What is the process for a TL-S and an A-Spec? Are they on the same line as the other TL's? Are they pulled off at some point?

I know how it works in the Mustang world but not so much in the honda world...
