Type-S Production Numbers

In our CL forum, we have the break down for the 6 speed manual CL-S which was only produced one year (2003). Its extremely rare and only about 3500 examples exist worldwide. We also have the breakdown by color and navi/non-navi...

Now I am curious and have search around, but do you guys know a pretty close number as to how many 2007-2008 Acura TL TYPE S's were produced total as in a breakdown by how many of each color in auto or manual and if those had navi or not.

I'm curious on this and I'm sure many of you would be, but does any one know or know where to find out??

Thanks
Luigi

Idk, Im an acura enthusiast and would like to know because if i get a chance to own one which i think would be in about 1.5-2 years, good too know if you got a rare color combo, etc.

about 1 week after i took delivery of my TL-S I went to acura to pickup a trunk tray, the new car sales manager recognized me, and said "Btw, as far as I know you bought the last available ASM with Silver Ebony 6spd in the USA".

Would be interested as well. I've been told CBP is one of the "rarer" colors on Type S' by the dealer, so I'd love to know the production numbers.

ok so then no one here knows for sure huh, but many are interested!

To start off, Acura for w/e reason never released production number info in the past for any model. The one guy who broke down the CL-S6 #'s i guess studied all of the 2003 VIN#'s for CL's listed off of a website somewhere and knew how the VIN was decoded. Thats all he used.

so i guess its worth a try to see if its possible to figure this out in any easy manner.

and why not, if any of you guys wanna email Acura for the hell of it like was mentioned, go for it...

From what I hear there were only 2,800 TL-S made in 2008. Not sure how accurate this is but it makes sense. It was strange... I was at the batting cages the other day and there were 3 TL-S's in the parking lot. It was like a little meet.

I'm also interested in knowing the production numbers. I think that it will make us cherish our tl-s even more than we already do if we know they are produced in limited numbers.
I see so many around that it makes it hard to believe that there was only less than 3000 produced.

just was looking at honda media newsroom and found that in 07 5,998 tl's were sold and in 08 3,607 tl's were sold. However it doesn't say how many were tl-s and how many were standard tl's

In Albuquerque, I've probably seen less than 10 Type-S's the past couple of years (07 and 08 years)

That's only in December.

Year total is closer to 50,000 in '08; 60,000 in 2007.

In Kansas City, in the year and a month I've owned my Type S, I've only seen 3 or 4 around town. They are VERY rare here.

Wow...very cool Grsd. Obviously Vancouver is much more progressive. Actually, I'm kind of glad we don't have alot of Type S models around. We do have a alot of Base TL's around town though.

you can do it, but it requires time and access to acura's database. You will need to punch in every VIN number in and then write down the color/package info for it. This is what the NSX guys had to do...

The Acura bodyshop told me my kbp TLS is extremely rare car in Florida. I have only seen 1 other car similar to mine and it was nearly a year ago when I saw it. Once I saw it pull up at a Steakhouse I was at, I knew I had to have that car in that color!

TL's are a little common around much like the current 5 Series, but there's only 3 TL Type-S that I know of. A Carbon Bronze Pearl like mine, a white one, & a black one. The black one & I always give each other a thumbs up when we go by each other.

When I bought my KBP, the dealer had 2 NBP, and 2 WDP's

None of them were manual, my KBP was the last one on long island. I couldn't find any manuals so I just got the KBP. So I must say color I think would be KBP, since ALOT of people here have WDP and NBP

What I'd like to know is the production numbers for vehicle color by year

How many SSM vs WDP vs NBP etc were produced in 2004/05/06 etc...?

I've always wanted to know this because I definitely think more SSM were produced than the dark blue color.

I see a lot of base TL's in my area.

There's somebody that drives a KBP TL-S in the 626 area and I've seen a WDP TL-S on the 60 freeway once. That's it, the rest have been base TL's.

Now that I think about it, I've never seen another CBP TL-S other than my own. And I've never seen a 6spd MT TL-S other than my own either. Of course that one WDP might be MT..But I doubt it.

I know one member here in Jax that has a KBP TL-S. He actually bought it the same day I bought mine at the same dealership. It was the last one on the lot. His screen name is Roxxor.

I actually pulled into a Walgreens to pick up a prescription, and when I came out, there was an exact replica of my car-parked right next to mine. I had to hit the key fob to figure out which one was mine.

Tl-s

Hey guys
Now i have been looking for a month for a 07-08 TL - type S in Carbon bronze pearl with 2 tone leather inside and im in cleveland, i already got 03 TL-type S in white, so far i have seen 07-08 TL-S in Carbon, silver, black, morcan red on the road around town.
I have been told by few dealers that Carbon Bronze with 2 tone leather is a hard find, do not know how true it is but would also like to know the production numbers.

i have seen numerous WDPs, NBPs, KBPs, CBPs, and ASMs.

I would also have to say the MRP is a rarer color than KBP..Ive seen pretty much all the Type-S colors, but yet have seen a MRP Type-S..

Theres a CBP and NBP Type-s that lives around my house..(someone jacked the type-s badge on the NBP .)

There are quite a few TL-S locals around tho..NBP,WDP and CBP

When I bought my TL S last february the dealer had told me I had got the last WDP one in TORONTO for the next 3 months. No dealership had it. Now he could have been bullshiting me but it still put a smile on my face

I see flocks of TL's in my area but very few Type-S...

I have only seen one other KBP in the 5 months I have had my car.

Lucky for me Aceman lives far enough away so I don't run into him and make me look bad on the streets...

some people dont even mention MRP lol cause they dont even know its a Type-S color. even though KBP is rare, most people know about it so that should tell you something about MRP.

Yea, here in the Triad (Greensboro, Winston, Highpoint) i see several TL's on a weekly basis although in the past year perhaps only a small handfull TYPE-S's- NBP, WDP, KBP, CGP and i second the idea of MRP as the most rare- now keep in mind we have 2 Large Acura dealerships around here though-I was so close to pullin the trigger on the MRP....

I have a 07 MRP TypeS. I have only seen one other MRP (any model) on the road.. I live in Omaha. There was one Base MRP TL when I bought my TypeS though. Not sure if that's the one I saw on the road.

I love the color. Just love how the taillights blend in with it perfectly!
