Type-S owners!! Are your rear calipers black?
I was looking in another thread and debating with another member about Type-S rear calipers. They said that the rear calipers are supposed to be black. Mine are unpainted, were they supposed to be painted black from the factory?

I think you are talking about the "hub" of the rotor. Mine is rusty as well. In somewhat relation to the original post, I have seen people paint their rears black, as well as have the rear hub painted black to help keep it from rusting. Looks a lot better too. There are also aftermarket rotors made with the hub already black which helps prevent the rust.
Well, I left the office to look at my rear calipers (I'm parked in the front row) and found that they are not painted. I have an 08 TL-S. They are a dark in color but it's bare metal. Are you guys that say they are painted sure? Perhaps we should start a poll
Guys I read a long time ago that the rear calipers on a 2008 TLS is a brembo 1 piston calipers painted black from factory to match the front.
This was from the the Acura website, describing the 2008 Tl type S
This was from the the Acura website, describing the 2008 Tl type S
, but you are EXACTLY right:
....
Both manual and automatic transmission TL Type-S models include a special Brembo brake package that includes 12.2-inch (310 mm) diameter ventilated front rotors clamped by 4-piston brake calipers. On the rear, the Type-S makes use of 11.1-inch (282 mm) diameter solid rotors mated with Brembo single-piston brake calipers. The calipers have an aggressive pad material to offer improved brake feel and to reduce fade in hard, repeated brake applications. The Brembo calipers are also 30-percent lighter than the standard calipers, reducing unsprung weight by 4.3 pounds per wheel, which in turn improves suspension response for better ride and handling. The calipers feature an attractive black painted finish with the Acura name. Rear brake rotors are the same 11.1-inch solid discs as used on the TL, but the calipers are given a black finish to match the look of the front brake calipers.

Sorry I doubted you.

This is for the '07 TL-S (does not say anything about Brembo rear calipers):

Well, I went to Acura OEM, and pull the calipers for both TL-S 07 and 08
The Part # are exactly the same, only difference are the diagram showing the parts in drawings.

So, which statement is true?

I gotta go with the Honda News articles. That's the word right form the horses mouth. I suspect both 2007 & 2008 are the same caliper manufacturer, they just didn't mention it in the 2007 release.I said mine looked "grey-ish", not like the bare metal I had on the '02, but like faded, worn out paint. I repainted them last week.
mine were dark in color like they were painted very lightly. not bare metal. just take some dupli-color black caliper paint and paint them yourself like i did
then if you're not satisfied spray on a few coats of hi-temp clear coat on them. your set
WOW! I was gonna call

So, what people are saying. Ahem, Bearcat! Is that all TL-S should have black painted rear calipers. The 08's are 1 piston Brembos? So, is it feasible to ask the dealer to install the black calipers?

^^^ are you sure?
I looked at my friends 08 and he thought they were not painted but then I was like your calipers are painted man and he looked at mine and then looked at his and was like oh yeah they are. They are painted black but its a very rough black not like the nice glossy finish on the fronts.
