First of all, I just wanna say hi to everyone and give a thumbs up to the site. very informative but very addicting! I just purchased an 08 TL base model and wanted to start modding. I just purchased the A-spec suspension kit and now I'm thinking of purchasing the body kit. I know there are 2 kits available, base and Type S. I really like the Type S kit but I heard it won't fit on a base TL. is this true? can i do anything to make it fit? any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

You can make it fit, but with modifications. You'll have to do some cutting/modifying of your existing bumpers to make the base/Type-S compatible. But it is possible.

in your opinion, do you think its worth it. do you know how hard it would be to install it? should i just get the base kit? I think majority would say the base kit looks nicer but I see it all the time. I actually like the base kit better but like I said, I see it all the time.

 

You don't need to modify anything for the front lip. The TypeS front lip is a mask and it will cover the base bumper with no modification needed. The sideskirts are the same for both models, but obviously for the rear lip you will need to get the base rear lip.

 

TypeSDragon, thats what I thought. I almost purchased the Type S front lip on ebay but the seller said it wouldn't fit on the base. isn't it the same body? except for the suspension and the horsepower?

 

The front bumper of an 08 TL base is not the same between the 08 TLS. If you look at the side of the fog lights, you will see the difference between the two. But regardless, the TypeS front lip is more like a mask that goes over the front bumper so it will fit with no issues.
