Type S Driver 1 and 2 question

I bought a used 08 type s and the dealer only gave me a driver 2 key. Is it possible to make that driver 1?

Seth, go back to the dealership and make them give you another key for Driver 1.

Only if it was an Acura dealer CPO. Otherwise, you're SOL.

Then you'd have to go to a dealer to get a key made.

Bearcat is right. If it's not a CPO (Certified Pre-Owned), hopefully they will be good guys and take care of you.

Other than seat positioning, what does driver 1 key do that 2 does not?

Both keys work the same regarding their capabilities. The seats, mirrors, and radio presets change per driver key to personalize the experience.

If you don't have the driver 1 key, you are not the real owner of the car. I'm sorry...

my dealer where I bought my TL actually cut and program key for driver 1 for free of charge, they said that every car the sold came with two keys and remote. So now I have one key that brand new lol.

Yes, I just confirmed that the Ventilation settings are saved for each driver- just learned something new! That was worth putting a new battery in my Wife's fob- she never drives my car.

If you have someone else who drives you car then I would say it's worth it for their convenience. But if someone rarely drives it, then it's up to you. They can change the settings all you want, but once you unlock the door with your key, it will go back to the saved settings.

I had bought a new Driver 1 key from Tim @ OEMAcuraParts way cheaper than what you can get at your dealer. Then call up different dealerships to see who has the best price for cutting/programming a new key.

I feel everyone is different with my car I received the Driver 1 and Driver 2 key plus the valet key (yes I am special LOL) but I just use Driver 2 key because the first key is pretty worn and the second key looks brand new....so I have always used the second key

PS BTW Congrats on the purchase...enjoy your TYPE S I know I do xD
