Two Car Discount?

What sort of discount would you expect from buying two TL's at once. I am looking to unload my 03 TL-S (you all know why) and my dad is wanting to get something smaller(downsizing from a 740i). He is serious about buying one, and if the deal was right I would get rid of mine now for an '06 instead of waiting to see what "might" be on an '07.

Not much. I went in and was going to buy an MDX and a TSX (ended up with a TL and a Pilot from two different dealerships) but they werent willing to go really low because we were possibly buying two Acuras, so we got one Ac and one Honda (same thing I know but they dont stock Pilots on the Acura lot)

We went in saying, "what can you get us in for 65k" and all he could do was the loaded Acura so we got the Pilot instead of the MDX somewhere else.

Approaching it like that won't get you much. My view: If you are going to drop that kind of coin, you should be getting some serious service and attention. Time your purchase for the end of the month. Better yet, the end of this month is the end of the quarter. Everyone will start dealing in the last 3-4 days. Expect rock bottom prices on the last day of the month.

Do all of your negotiation over the Internet. Don't go into a dealership until you have your deal in writing over email. Negotiate for everything that you want first (paint protection, extended warranty, ...). You lose all negotiating power after the deal is done (and you go into the finance manager's office). If you can, don't trade in a vehicle. Too many moving parts for the financial deal. If you have to, then negotiate the price of the vehicle(s) first. Talk trade-in value later.

I just bought my 06 TL and I was negotiating with six dealerships in parallel. It was a breeze...

Hope this helps!

I agree with shbaker. If you are going to buy 2 vehicles at one time you should be getting some dealer attention. I like the internet deals cauz it saves you the footwork, however I really like to deal with people in person I think I get better service.. Stay the hell out of the finance managers office until your have your deal done. Good luck with buying your cars. I dont know where you live, but if it is in the Los Angeles area I have a dealship you could try, they were straight with me. Send me a private message for the info
