Turbo 6MT Type-S, Low Miles!
Turbo 6MT Type-S, Low Miles!
I Was randomly searching for fun came across this beast.
At first, I didn't like it; ugly wheels, uglier exhaust tips...
then I saw the under hood pic! I haven't seen one turbo'd but I don't spend much time in the performance section of Azine so maybe I'm intrigued over nothing...
BTW I don't know anything about this dealer lol

it appears this dealer has been trying to sell that car forever. i think i've seen it before. the dealer may have added those tips (i dont' think it even had tips before). i could be wrong, but it looks familiar.
I suppose the question is, why would someone who invested that much money in the car trade it into the dealer?
Alternatively, the previous owner financed the car, spent too much on mods, couldn't pay the loan, the car got repo'd, then sold at auction.
More than likely it was a members car...but we will see.

Yep, you're 100% correct. A few months ago there was a thread with a ASM TL type-s with the J&R turbo kit but it didn't have exhaust tips at all or had some weird undersized ones. Dealer must have added these.

My apologies to Premier Auto Imports. It appears they have a chain link fence: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=205+A...ss+Center&z=19
original had a kid and needed to sell. guess this was his best option when he needed money.
if i was looking for a type-s i would not hestitate to buy this one.
just do a compression and leak down test first. if its good then u got a great deal imo

It always concern me when someone lists a car like this but never once mentions in the description "NO ACCIDENTS."
I would have to see the full Carfax. The wheels and exhaust can be replaced for little money. The price and miles definitely make it attractive though.

If it is the same one, I remember reading the owner or a friend of the owner saying it had all kinds of problems.
From the initial tuning to sputtering or some other real major problem that they could never figure out.
Replaced engine or tranny. I don't know specifics but if it it indeed the same car it had some issues going on.
Enough to stay away from.

If those pictures are really current, the turbo has ZERO rust on the turbine side. Mine has never seen salt, just rainwater and I have some rust on the hot side.
Like Bert said, if it has good compression numbers, pull the FIC, get a FlashPro and you'd likely be good to go for dirt cheap.

$21k is dirt cheap? This car is either going to last for years with the current motor setup, or it will blow up the first time you floor it when you're showing it off to your friends. Pretty sure I wouldn't risk $21k on something that you can't get serviced or warrantee'd by Acura in the event that something goes wrong.
good price, bad price, doesn't matter.
at the end of the day, I would never, ever buy a turbo TL. The reason being it's such an unproven platform and boosted cars like that are always a high risk. How many people have turbo kits for their TL? 10 maybe? If that? There isn't much support for the platform and as a result it would be hard to guess what may or may not have gone on with this car during and after the build.

Whats the point on boosting a car like this?? it can only handle like 8 or 9 psi, that's a wrist slap compared to evo's, sti's, or anything that comes with a turbo from factory. A huge waste of money imo.
i was going to buy this car myself until i talked to the original owner....
he blew the piston rings and then he traded the car into a dealership and since then its been passed on to 5 other places..Premier has had it on ebay few times but it doesnt ever bring over 19k..
if was you or anyone looking to buy this car...its a good deal but be prepared to possibly replace the engine or rebuilt the engine.
the original owner tracked the shit out of this car before trading it.

If you take a j35a8 and put a completely forged bottom end in it along with sleeves...guess what you have? A recipe to bust some ass! Now let's see Subaru, Mitsubishi, Toyota make some claims like that above on their stock motors. As they say- "it's all in the tune"...

Putting extras into any car is considered a waste of money no matter how you look at it. We all have different reasons to do so just as people have reasons to pick a STI or EVO over any other factory tuned ride.
I'm not sure if you're referring to the engine, ECM (tuning), or what here. But the fact of the matter if that these engines, if tuned properly, can spit out 500-700hp on a boosted stock motor. And that's on a j32a2 from the previous generation TL (2g). And now, with the support and capabilities of tuning the j35a8, I don't doubt for one minute that you could push those numbers even further.
