Tuneup prices
I wanna know how much you guys are being charged for a tune-up.
I just went to a local shop in my area I was quoted $344 for a complete tuneup.
I believe the guy told my it was $125 for labor + oil change and $219 for oem parts from Acura of manhattan. They supposedly get 20% discounts on parts from the dealer.
Do you guys think thats too much?

yeah...because tune ups are "old school"
What exactly are you getting done?
how many miles do you have?
there is a 105k service which includes timing belt and water pump. this would be a great time to do valve adjustments and change spark plugs.

I have 139k on my car, spark plug, oil filter, air filter, oil, fluids ect. I've never done a tuneup on my car, so I'm clueless as to what it is actually done to the car. I just asked the guy out of curiosity, but Ill definitely try and get different quotes from different shops.
You'd be outta your mind to pay that for some plugs and fluid. Seriously. Every one of those things has a DIY in the Garage I'm sure and you could take the pride of doing it yourself for less than $100 bucks easily.
We see this way too much on AZ. Put some money into your tool investment not some shop's pocket - DIY IT!

$344! I think the stearlership charges $250 for a tuneup.
NGK Iridiums are about $8 / ea.. ($48)
If you added tools for the job.. 6" extension, socket set w/ spark plug socket, hex key ($50)
anti-seize ($2)
That's $100 if you don't have the tools.. if you do, then the job is $50 and takes 30 mins of your time to do.
Changing fluids and filters is a no brainer. It can be very cheap to relatively expensive depending on what you buy. I'm sure this guy isn't putting redline oil in with a r&p filter.. so you can assume his cost in materials is probably $25, billing you $100.

Doesn't seem expensive "IF" he is getting $219.00 worth of parts at 20% discount. The OP needs to provide more details on the parts to be ordered. Seems like a lot of parts...$125 for labor does not look bad at all if the parts list is long.

Have you done the timing belt service yet ? If not, better head on down to Hamilton Honda in Hamilton, NJ for their timing belt special. Cheapest price in the the NYC/NJ area at this time and performed by a Honda tech.
Yea that was the first thing I did when I purchased the car, apparently the first owner didn't do any of that.
What the hell is a "tune up"? Seriously. There is not such thing in the Owners Manual - it's an idea whose time has passed.
Depends on the dealer. Say $800 - $1200 normally. Honda dealers are usually cheaper. There have been numerous dealreships running very good deals lately though.
Here's one in Jersey: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/timing-belt-package-%24389-nj-815574/

Hello, I am new to AcurZine. I just purchased a 2005 TL. Looking at historical records i only see the tranny flushed at 91K? Was this the first interval? Also looking around people are going to a honda dealer vs acura to save a few on the 105K service. Is that completly ok? Anything the acura dealer will offer besides a higher price tag?? Thanks!!!
so buy plugs + oil filter + air filter for $100, get 15% off = $85, plus $50 store credit to spend later. Not a bad deal.. especially for frequent shoppers like myself.

"tune up" is now synonymous with changing plugs. nothing more.
