TSX Similarity

Has anybody else noticed how much the '04 TL looks like an overgrown :yack:TSX?

I'm not impressed. Even if the TSX had a V6, I would have still driven the '03 TL-S home.

Same as the E-class looks like an overgrown C-class, and the S-class like an overgrown E-class. Same with Audi, BMW, Jaguar. This is brand recognition. Acura has been dying to achieve this goal.

Yeah, BMW used to call it "same sausage, different lengths." Infiniti is taking a slightly different tact on it with their grille, giant emblem, and LED taillights, but BMW, Audi, and Benz have definitely each established a brand identity aesthetically.

I'm glad to see Acura pursuing the same personally.

Maybe we'll see that in the new RL too. Same pizza, different toppings.

I personally don't mind. I like the corporate look.

If I want my cars to look alike, I'll buy a German car. Japanese cars need to look different IMO.

Unfortunately, the brand identity look of the new acuras are a little too sterile/angular (sterangular?) for me... Infinitis definitely have more flavor in their look, in my opinion. I especially dislike the new Acura right-angle, chopped-off trunk rear section. I doubt I'll be purchasing another Acura in the future (besides an NSX). The TSX hardly even catches my eye on the road. Still love MY TL, though. I hate my dealer (Crown Acura, Richmond). They honestly suck. Just hurts the new Ac's collective case a bit more in my eyes. Hopefully my opinions will change, being a longtime Honda owner. The Acura was a logical step up for me at the time, but Infiniti's G35 is soo sexy, it makes "our" lineup look really bad. Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. Sorry if I offended anyone.

the g35 looks nice from the front but ugly from the back also.

when the g35 first came out, everyone was like OMG its ugly.

true, some cars take time to get into... but i gotta disagree on the G35- gorgeous rear end... I'd put a ring on that finger in a heartbeat...

The RL is an even bigger version of the TL with some FAT rear tires from all the spy pics I've seen.

They should just go ahead and introduce the Canadian 1.7 EL to the domestic market, but totally "Nu-Acurafy" the front and rear ends to make it match the TL, just on a smaller scale. Then, when the RL comes out, you can have your choice of four different identical looking cars, just different sizes. Sorta like the Navigator/Aviator thing.

i hope not. the EL is just a civic with different headlights/tail lights and leather. in America there are no hondas that have an acura counter-part. these cars may share the same platforms, but their engines, exteriors, interiors, suspensions, are all different.

i saw a tsx today on the road and it looks hot but from behind it looks like it is very narrow....i checked the Acura wesbite and it says the the following:

TSX Width: 59.6"
TL Width: 61.0"

Its only about a 1.5" diff but i guess its the styling of the rear that makes it look more narrow.

TSX is tall, that's why it looks more narrow.

BMWs used to look the same but they all looked good or agressive with the sport kit. I didn't mind when they all looked alike, they looked sweet.

Although the new TL shares some of the TSX family lines, I think it has enough of its own character to distinguish it from it's brethren. I think it looks better than the TSX.
