Trunk release button supposed to light up?

i have a 2007 TL-S and im not sure if the trunk realease button is supposed to light up at night or not. it never lit up ever since i bought the car but when i drove a 2008 acura tsx the light was lit.
I have an extended warranty until 2015 so would the dealer take care of this if it is supposed to light up?

image for the trunk release button is below:

I don't think mine lights up. Neither do I think you will get something like that fixed with an extended warranty.

My vsa and sunroof button does illuminate either. Could it be loose connection or just burnt out?

^this

I had my passenger heater warmer light out, but it ended up being all 3 light bulbs so I replaced them since I had already tackled the steering wheel ones which were easy.
But never knew the trunk release was illuminated also, I asked about those but the dealership went over the same schematics above, and said it wasn't illuminated.
This was when I was replacing all bulbs, now I will have to change it out or else it will bother me.

it took me a while to realize mine was out too...but yeah, other than driver "1" number being a little flaky...I can flick it and it'll light up...I've had about 6 bulbs burn out on me.

For the seat heater button, do yourself a favor...pull back the sticker on the side, it reveals the bulbs. In a drunken stupor (yes, I sometimes mod with a buzz) I almost broke the whole dang switch trying to pry it open!

^I broke my switch trying to figure it out, I felt so so stupid when I realized the silver sticker was covering the bulbs. Had to replace the whole switch and light bulbs. 30bucks later it was all brand new.

LOL...glad I'm not the only one! But I was able to salvage it, only half the assembly broke. BUt YES< I felt SUPER STUPID!

J.

you can get to the trunk release button by: (watch your fingers the plastic can be sharp) open your door, grab the inner crevice nearest door jamb of the bottom part of the dash (right below the seem)...give it a yank toward you. It pops off enough to reach right in and get to the switch. About a 2 minute job.

If not I will look it up in the Garage and find the DIY for the power mirror controls, I get freaked out when I remove panels in my car, one clip already broke on my passenger side when I changed out my air cabin.

Yeah I think I replaced the bulb in the parking lot once I bought the bulb since all you do is pull to disengage the clips on the driver dash panel.

There's one screw, though. Right side.

I just replaced the VSA bulb and the hazard bulb over the weekend, after I was done, I noticed the trunk button didn't light up. Had to order that bulb, it's on its way here.

I have to mention that the bulb in the link is for a Type-S so it will be red.
OP has a Type-S.

I have started upgrading mine to LEDS from http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED-B...-LED/sc122473/, the resisters are built in and we use T3 Neo-Wedge bulbs.

For he standard TL, the blue led's a great match to the blue in the gauges, radio knob backlighting, ambient lighting from the overhead console. I've replace some and just bought more to do the rest.

How hard is it to replace the bulb behind the drivers hot and cold controls at the top of the heat/A/C control panel? That's the only bulb burned out in mine. I can see I have to remove the metal trim but I'm not sure what to do from there.

My passenger side one is burnt out. I will say that this is one thing I really find annoying with Acura. With both my CLs and the TL I have had bulbs burn out. I owned my I35 for 5+ years and changed one tail light bulb the entire time. I lost track of how many road lamp bulbs I changed.

remove metal trim
remove cup holders
remove center console/cubby
remove nav screen area
access to bulbs granted.

as you can see, it's a lot of fun

freakin' bulbs on the TL's...it's amazing how many of us have issues with them. i need to replace the setup and menu keys under the nav screen. i'm going to replace ALL of them once i'm back there.

There's no screw...you can pull it back enough to get at it without removing the entire panel.

The bulb is a bluebased screw in thing...you put a flathead in it and turn counter clockwise and it'll come out (after tapping the assembly in your palm to get it) then reverse with the new one.

Damn! Well that's a lot of work for one bulb. Guess I'll wait for a few more to burn out. That should give me the motivation to tear the whole center console apart.

Or you can pull it back far enough and have the plastic screw come out by itself

You don't have a screw on the far right?

Probably true that you don't have to remove the screw or pop the clips off on the right side.
I like to remove it as not to flex or bend stuff lol

Damn. I didn't know vleds had those t3 neo wedge. They're realt cheap too.

I ordered 50 bulbs like that from hong kong to replace mine... I think It cost me 40$ with shopping but its been 3 weeks and I'm still waiting on them.

I went to the dealer and bought 8$ bulbs for all the buttons around my navi. Replaces them and less than a week later two of them are out. I'm done with OEM bulbs.
