Trunk Mod - adding hooks for grocery bags
Hey Folks,
Here's my recent mod, cost me 5.00 in materials and the install was also 5-10mins tops. Basically this mod prevents the bags from flying all over the place as you take your turns at 45mph!
Pictures speak for themselves.

as long as the floor of the trunk is bearing the weight, all it's doing is preventing the top of the bag from opening allowing things to slide out. even if you turn fast enough for the bag to go airborne it isn't going to rip your liner down the bag would rip before that could happen

Hey guys, sorry I didn't add more details.. I figured the pictures would provide all the information needed but guess I was wrong lol.
I'll try to update my thread with a how to so you can do the mod as well.
Stay tuned!

Are you kidding me? You drilled holes in your car to hang hooks to hold your bags? Somebody just kill me I can't even begin to deal with this. Sorry op but that is a complete fail.

If I have to have bags in my trunk it is for a few minutes only, I am not racing around with bags in my trunk. and if I had to race around with them they would be held in the nets that come with the car.
again complete fail.

You're really that upset that somebody installed hooks in their trunk? lol A lot of cars come with them already installed, so I'm not sure how this is a "complete fail" lol
Nice job OP, if I had to do grocery shopping and what not, I'd do the same, but the few bags I carry I jsut usually leave in my back seat.

Update:
Here are the tools I used-
My hands
Nail - as the punch tool
J-bolt - you determine the size
Nylon bolt - find the matching size
fender washer
I punched two holes, my method was rather caveman like but I took a nail and just forced a hole, then I threaded on the j-bolt. Simple but effective. Things to note, once you pop off the liner it's held on by these plastic clips all you have to do really is tug downwards and they will pop off (4 plastic retention clips on my 2006).
Another thing to note, make sure you look up to see where the trunk meets the liner you will see a cut out and that is where you should make the holes so the j-bolt doesn't hit any metal but instead hits the cut out hole instead.
Install: This is how I applied the items - take off the nut that came with the j-bolt, apply the nylon nut around 1cm from the top. Then apply the j-bolt to your hulk made hole, screw on. On the top end side slide the fender washer on. Tighten with the original bolt and that's it. 5min-10mins elapsed!

Like others have mentioned this is merely to hold the bag in place so the contents of your bag won't spill out. Most of the weight is distributed towards the bottom/floor so in reality there isn't a ton of weight being pulled onto the hook but yes, depending on how FAST you turn it could bear some weight on the hook![Wink](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Goodluck all.

Another source for a hook would be a late model VW Jetta. I used to have one, and it had a spring loaded hook for bags in the trunk. When not in use, it sat flat against the bottom of the trunk shelf.
I never really looked closely at the hook to see how it was attached.

I found something on amazon's site! Maybe it's time to do a test on this and order it. Hrmmmm fitting this into the car probably won't be difficult at all. I'm happy with the current mod to be honest.

Hey cooper thanks for the part number!
I found a pdf for an install on the above part number.
http://www.collegehillshonda.com/ins.../cargohook.pdf
And video http://www.diyhonda.com/podcasts/epi...cargo_hook.wmv
All in all doesnt seem too difficult, but I'm content on my price point for now. The honda part seems to averages around 7bux for the whole assembly.

that honda one seems pretty interesting. Looks like we can drill a hole in the metal of the rear shelf and stick that rivet nut in there and make a corosponding hole on that liner.
I don't believe that you need the tool, you should be able to just stick the bolt and washer in there and tighten it down until the rivet expands.
