Trunk Light Question

Sometimes I would like to leave my car's trunk open so the golf stuff inside can dry out.

I left it open a few minutes and the light didn't time out. So if I leave it open overnight, the battery will drain.

Does anyone know how to turn off the trunk light (asside from closing the trunk)?

Thanks.

PS: I RTFM and looked closely at the latch but couldn't see anything obvious.

I left it open for about half and hour because I had terrible smell in trunk and light wouldn't go off.

The only way to turn the light off is to remove the bulb. There is no time out feature or switch.

The service manual says to carefully pry out the trunk light. It doesn't show any tool to be used so it shouldn't be too hard to remove it. Then remove the bulb. (Careful, it might be hot).

An alternative to what Ron suggests would be to find the fuse for the trunk light (which might be the same fuse for the interior lights--I don't have the manual handy) and pull it. That's what I used to do in my 1986 Legend and my 1997 Accord when I was tailgating. For some reason Honda does not provide a switch to turn off the trunk light in any of its cars.

It would be REALLY easy to install a switch inline.

I just went out and looked at the trunk light and it isn't easy to take out. The trunk liner goes all around it and there isn't enough room to reach in and grab the light, so the fuse is probably a better way to turn it off.

If anyone finds out which fuse it is please let us know.
