Is this a true A-Spec? TL

How can I tell if this is the real deal from the factory?

Normally, people dont go all out and purchase the aspec steering wheel.

the car in question has the aspec steering wheel.

To my knowlege there was no such thing as a factory aspecd tl. It was a dealer installed package and I want to say that it was marked as an aspec under the vin# in some database from acura ( if it was indeed purchased and installed at an acura dealership). I could be wrong tho

Thanks for the reply, what makes the steering wheel different from the Type-S and reg TL?
Seems like there a few type-s models up for sale in my area also, don't know if I like the Type-S factory chrome wheels

The aspec wheel was thicker had blue stitching and silver material where your thumbs would rest.

^i think its carbon fiber, and not silver material.
the wheel retails at like $300-400

this is why its rarely added to the car, after the fact. because its expensive.

That's not an a-spec steering wheel, it's just the carbon fiber accessory wheel. The a-spec steering wheel is thicker than both the regular and carbon fiber wheel, has blue stitching, and does have silver patches with perforations where you would put your thumbs.

if you read carefully, the seller states that it's custom chromed wheels, which probably means that he took it to a shop to get them refinished in chrome. to my knowledge, all Type-S models came with these wheels (unless it came with the aspec wheels):

what im curious about is why the aspec wheels are gunmetal...it has the lip around the edge which indicates its the standard 18x8 not 18x8.5....18x8 never came with gunmetal AFAIK

As stated, it's not a real A-spec.

In 2004 any A-spec packaged TL would come with Gunmetal 18x8.5 rims. Every A-spec packaged TL after 2004 came with 18x8.0 with the option of Chrome, hyper (Darker) Chrome and brilliant silver.

Chrome:

Hyper Crhome:

Silver:

Gunmetal:

Real A-spec will have the following done

A-spec kit (Front, side's and rear pieces)
A-spec suspension (Manual version was a bit lower than the automatic version)
A-spec rear wing (It was a wing mounted on the trunk with an acura logo right under it)
A-spec steering wheel (Thicker, blue stitching with silver by the top switches)
A-spec RED brake pads (Not sure if this was only on the automatic version.. front or rear)
A-spec badge on trunk. (Super rare now)

There was no added performance. Also not to be confused with the accessory wheels offered which were wood grain or Carbon fiber.

Carbon"

Wood

A-spec

And yes, that's a real TL-S

That actually looks like a very nice, well kept car. Even if it was on the stock suspension, it looks like a good buy (since the 105K service was done). I'm not a fan of chrome either but really like the A-Spec wheels.

I know you copied and pasted that, but there's some misinformation in that post. 18x8.5 ONLY came in gunmetal, and doesnt have the "lip" around the edges. In fact the ones without the lip are 17x7.5, 18x7.5,18x8.5 aspec rims(all the .5's), and the ones with the lip are the 18x8. only the x8 and x8.5 are for TL, x7.5 is for TSX and has a +55 offset and do not clear brembos.
