Trip Computer Rant

I have an 04 TL. When I push through the selectons on the LCD display I get to Trip Computer, then I hit the button, then I get to see the MPG. Now if I turn off the car and come back, it says "Trip Computer" I know it's the damn Trip Computer, tell me my friggin MPG, I don't want to hit the button every time. Very annoying. Does anyone have the firmware for the Trip Computer so I can find the control loop and modify it? Do the 05 and 07 do this?

04 - 06 are all like that

not sure about the 07's though.

I don't use it anyway, I use the external temp as I MUCH prefer the trip computer on the Navi.

Don't think there is much you can do about it. The MID will return back to the main "Trip computer" screen upon restart.

I'm not sure whether the trip computer on the navi screen hack does the same thing, but here is the thread: Navigation Hack Guide: Welcome Screen Mod, Trip Computer, OK Button Nag Removal

the trip computer on the Navi is similar, in that everytime you start the car, it will always go to navi first. Once you have hacked the system, you will need to hit "info", then "trip computer" after the map comes up to get to it.

the 2007 does the same thing. I am assuming I do not have a trip computer in my 2007 NAVI... or do I?

I don't know about you guys but on my 04 Navi, the trip computer on the navi screen in the diagnostic mode is grayed out and I can't select it. What do you do to get it to become an option?

This also bugged me when I first figured it out (and it kind of continues to bug me). Fortunately, I prefer the on-screen trip computer (accessible by hack only), as it is real-time stats and flat-out just looks cooler. Plus, now that I have the on-screen trip computer, I can keep the MID on the screen that shows the outside temperature. Basically, I feel just like this:

Ha! I like the wording of that ultimatum. Be sure not to mince words or anything.

The correct answer is, Hey Zootjeff, here is hack for the non Navi TL that lets you have a less retarded MID:
