Tree Sap

Hey guys,

Was wondering what the best thing to use to remove some tree sap from my car. Looks like I picked the wrong tree to park under to provide some shade...

If you can get the sap warm, it will become easier to get off with the claybar, but be carefull, that shit scratches easy.

Claybar? Really?

I was concerned because sap seems to stick a lot more than a bug...

You can try tar remover.

How long has the sap been on the paint? You need to find a way to get the sap soft enough so you can get it off the paint. If you have a good coat of wax under the sap, it should come off, but it will be a pain in the ass.

I used to have 2 parking spaces at my condo that were under a pine tree, and my last CL had 3 huge sap spots on the hood, and it took me a while to get them off without screwing up the paint under the sap. Good luck!

I've used tar remover before and I tell you, it's pretty tuff to get sap off of a dark colored car.

Nail polish remover
Rubbing Alcohol
Mayonaise??? ( )
Orange Based cleaner

I used Citrus Cleaner (The concentrate gallon from Home Depot).

Dilute the cleaner in a measuring bottle ~ 3:1 ratio.

Not sure to what extent you have sap, but I've always been able to remove it just by washing the car.

I vote for this one too. Works great and very cheap!! Just clean area with soap and water after you remove all the sap. Sap is everywhere in Florida because all we have are pine trees.

i just used my claybar
no scratches here.. except the dreaded swirl marks you get from just touching the car.
but a good coat of wax afterwards does the trick to shine it back up and hide the swirls.

Won't nail polish remover eat the paint, or discolor it for that matter?
